The Wild Bunch (1969)
The Wild Bunch (1969)
1969 | Action, Drama, Western

"I saw The Wild Bunch on a double bill with Mean Streets, midnight at the Waverly Place Cinema on Bleecker Street in New York [in the 1970s]. Those two played on a double bill; I was in New York, I had a studio and I was basically a practicing artist, working with various art groups — Art & Language, kind of conceptual arts, political arts. We were doing environments, we were doing installations, performance pieces…and I stumbled into this incredible double bill. And it was a life-changing experience. I thought they were just extraordinary. [Sam] Peckinpah for his muscularity, his immediacy, his sheer genius in his storytelling and characters. I was knocked out."

I know I should have appreciated this book more what with it being a classic... but I just couldn't connect to it. It was very blah.

Great book !!

First time I have read a book by Ms. Fraser. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read more by her.

I received this book through a First Reads giveaway and although I ended up somewhat liking it I had a very hard time getting into and through the book. There was a story to be told but not in the way I thought it would be presented. The book is just what it claims to be, a diary of Mrs. Robinson's accounts mixed with trial proceedings and such. There were a lot of facts, which may have been why it took me so long to get through it as I was thinking it would be more of a story, not a recounting of events. Either way it was an okay book.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this book. It started off a little slow but once I got into it, I couldn't put it down

It does have some issues, Ives is just a little too OP and seems to be rescued in just the nick of time and the dialogue was a bit clunky in some parts.

Ives has had a bad breakup and just wants to be left alone when a Valkyrie accosts her in a bar and demands that she help stop Ragnarok.

I really enjoyed the meshing of Hawaiian and Norse culture.

I actually enjoyed it a lot more than the first book, just because I found it a lot easier to follow. It still has the deeper philosophical elements though.

Not a fan
None of the characters were likeable, and I felt myself spending the whole story picking out plotholes. I found this a really frustrating book to read.
