Dana (24 KP) rated Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in Books

I have finally read this book. Granted, I listened to the audio book while I was crafting, but it still counts! It was a pretty good read. Even though I hadn't read the book before I was familiar with the story because it has shown up a lot in other books I have read in the past few years. Yeah, it was basically what I expected it to be. Interesting, creepy, and just plain weird.

I watched Sophie Hannah recently on Written in Blood, then I came across this book so I decided to give it a go! It took me a few chapters to really get into but once I was hooked I couldn't put it down because I was so intrigued about where the story was going. Overall I really enjoyed the read and I'll be keeping an eye out for more from this author in the future.

New favorite!
I watched the movie before I read this book. And I am so glad I did! I still love the movie but the book is 1000x better.
For his first novel, I was beyond impressed. Cline has a way to make you connect with the characters on a personal level, even with them living in an entirely different world. I just couldn’t put it down. Definitely my new favorite go to book!

I was not even able to finish this book. Peter Straub cowrites with one of my favorite authors so I figured it was only right that I give one of his books a try. The book turned out to be very dry and boring. I did manage to make it to the halfway point in the book before I gave up, so I feel confident in saying that I did give it a fair shot.

I'm not normally a fan of long books as, to me, they start to drag after a while and I become bored. Luckily, this was an exception to that.
I really liked this (mostly, anyway).
The "mostly" part because of the lack of a HEA. Yeah, I know it's in a trilogy but I've been left with little hope after that ending. I really need to go buy the second book right now to see how it all works out (with a HEA or at least hope of one for the last book)
I liked that it was detailed and quite steamy for a YA book. I read books for the romance aspect and I ADORED that in this. It was almost forbidden but they couldn't help themselves and were drawn inexplicably to each other.
I love Kaiden!

Good Advice, I guess
I was so close to loving this book when I first opened it. However, this ended after I got to page three, while this is advertised as a book of celtic wisdom I found instead the multiple turns back to christianity. Specifically the author's own views towards christianity. While I believed that I was finding a book about Celtic wisdom, history, and culture; I found instead a story of a christian missionary who had done some research and was putting together a past look at what wisdom could be drawn from the Celtic culture. The wisdom is beautifully written but if you're looking for a book specifically about Celtic culture, history, beliefs or anything of the sort this is not the book for you.
Ironheart, the TV series, was one of those I took a while getting round to watch.
Possible because I felt it was starting to get to be a bit of a chore to keep up with all the Marvel content on Disney+, plus the fact that I found the character - first introduced in Black Panther 2 - to be a bit on the bland side.
Once I did get round to it, I watched it all in the space of a few days as it was better than I was expecting, mixing the magic side of the MCU with the technological side.
And, yes, while I *know* that reveal at the end is supposed to be a big deal, I've still no real context for it and just what it is considered to be such (other than what I have heard second-hand)

I liked the story. It was a different take on a zombie apocalypse if you will and I liked that we not only got an adult's perspective but a child's as well. I liked seeing the world through Melanie's eyes and seeing how a kid who's been sheltered from the world can view things differently and have a unique outlook on how she should behave.
