As you may know from reading <i>Born at Midnight</i>, the first book of the <i>Shadow Falls</i> series, Della Tsang is Kylie Galen's Vampire friend. Here, we learn how Della was turned into a vampire and how she came about Shadow Falls. We also go into a bit more depth of Della's life before <i>Shadow Falls</i> and a brief history about Supernaturals. Warning though: like <i>Forgotten Lyrics</i> by Amanda Hocking (which I'm currently reading), it's a quick read. Actually, even more quick since it's only 32 pages long.
To be frank, I don't think I was expecting Vampirism to be a virus. I was expecting Della to get bitten by an actual vampire when I first met her in <i>Born at Midnight</i>. And was I so very very wrong at that assumption. The fact that Della had a Vampire virus in her blood was an unexpected twist in the series.
If I were Della's shoes, I probably would've reacted the same way as she did if I found out that *insert spoiler* wasn't actually dead and I was carrying a virus that could turn me into a vampire (It might even be cool). And that the fact blood will taste yummy. o_o
As for Della's issues in real life, I can totally compare my own life to her life. High expectations? yep. Sometimes too high? yep! Super harsh? Harsh, yes, but not like Della's parents in a way. Therefore, Della is now one of my favorite characters from Shadow Falls. Don't worry, there's plenty of room for the rest of them as well. Della just has that "twin-like" quality. :)
Overall, I love the humor that Hunter has woven into this story and find that Turned at Dark is a great prequel to Born at Midnight. It's not necessary to read Born at Midnight first, but if you want to, feel free to do so. I actually enjoyed the series and the shortstory. :)

A Good Read
When I read the synopsis of Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney, I knew it was a book I had to read. The book synopsis makes it sound very interesting! I was feeling like I had made the wrong choice a little past halfway through the book. However, the second half definitely got interesting!
I enjoyed the world building. It was obvious that the author, Alice Feeney, was meticulous about the building of Sometimes I Lie. Everything felt very real, and I felt like I was experiencing everything first hand.
The pacing of Sometimes I Lie is very slow for a little over halfway through the book. I wasn't sure if I should continue reading because I was bored of this book. However, I am so glad I persevered. I was rewarded with a very fast paced second half that I couldn't get enough of!
As for the plot, it's explained early on with Amber being in a coma. It's just a matter of finding out what led up to the point of her being in a coma. There are so many plot twists in Sometimes I Lie! I never predicted any of them, and they are really well written plot twists as well. The plot twists continue right up to the end of Sometimes I Lie. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure this book out. (That's a good thing)!
Just like the first half of this book, the characters do start out a little boring. I found myself not caring or relating to any of the characters at first. However, once I got to the second half of Sometimes I Lie, I was very much interested in each character. Amber and Claire are very much interesting characters and have an interesting past. I will leave it at that.
There are themes of violence, alcohol, rape and some swear words in this book. I don't feel as if these situations were too over the top.
I would definitely recommend Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney. I would say that even though the first half is boring, hang on for the second half because you will happy you did. The plot twists in this book are amazing!

A great story that left me wanting more!
WAYWARD STRIPPER is a short novella about a trans man on the run from his abusive ex, who lands a trial run at an Omega (Ladies) Club. The Head Dancer, Tristan, is on hand to help in any way and the sparks are instantaneous.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, but I wanted so much more! I would love for this to be a full-length novel, so I can get all the background information I want - the ex-relationship, Jake's escape, and more between Jake and Tristan. As a novella, it is fast-paced, but I would have loved more of the nitty-gritty that gives the story some depth. For me, it was a little too fast, with chunks either missed out or skipped over.
A great story that left me wanting! I would still recommend it though!

I have heard so many things about this movie over the years, I was wondering if it would live up to the hype. I was a little worried it wouldn't, so I've been avoiding it for so long. And it hasn't been available to watch anywhere for free until it came out on Netflix.
I am so glad I watched this film. There is nothing about it I didn't like. It felt like every character was important, there was a story to tell. I loved Morgan Freeman's narration and his performance as Red. Andy is brilliant and kind and cunning and a good friend and a great teacher. Norton is everything the criminal justice system is and shouldn't be. I am floored.
There are very few movies that after I see it, I have to own it. It's only happened a few times and the bar is very high. This film is one of those. I can't recommend it enough. It is a great watch with a great plot and a rolling story that never leaves you hanging. This is easily moving to the top 10 movies I adore - it might even hold the number one spot right now. Watch. This. Film.

This has been on my kindle since 2012 so I thought it was about time I got around to reading it, especially since I read [b:Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble|8542839|Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble (Jolie Wilkins, #1)|H.P. Mallory|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1329352960s/8542839.jpg|13410545] almost a year ago and I got them at the same time.
It took me a little getting into since I'm having a bit of an issue with paranormal books at the minute but once I got a third of the way in or so, I was pulled into the story bit by bit.
Me being me though, I was all for the romance aspects. Like Fire Burn... there were three love interest for Dulcie and each was different. A Loki, a Vampire and a...pixie? Elf? I feel bad that I can't remember what he was but it wasn't continually repeated like the other two so I could remember. I can't say I had a favourite for her either, though the Loki seemed to be mentioned the most often.
'm interested in continuing the series and reading more of the authors work, I'm just not sure when I'll get round to it with my ever increasing to-read list.

Dysfunctional and heart-warming
Read this before I made the decision to watch the movie, and I certainly enjoyed the book more (although the movie was not a bad one). The more I read the book, the more I was hooked, (possibly because it was quite a heavy read, and I wanted to finish it, again not because I dislike it). Many of the characters are likeable, and the material was well written.
A coming of age story of a young man beginning high school with the emotional and mental baggage of his traumatic childhood. Charlie was an unusual main lead, appearing quite odd at times and very emotional. He made friends with Sam and Patrick, and the relationship was heart warming if not a little dysfunctional.
My rating of the book, did not quite give it the max rating, as I felt after I had finished reading, I was left a little confused, and with a number of unanswered questions. At times throughout the novel, I kept thinking the next chapter will be the big reveal, but that chapter never came.
I can see why it has the following it has, went mainstream and has remained popular, but not a book I aim to reread anytime soon.

I wouldn't say I loved this book but it is definitely a fantastic thriller. It's full of twists and is a rollercoaster of emotions the whole way through. The reason I say I didn't love it is simply because I had an idea of the big twist soon into the book but that may be because I read a lot of thriller books and enjoy puzzles.
There is also no real explanation into their decision to become homicidal weirdos disguised as a regular married couple.
However, I did enjoy reading it. I still found myself hanging onto every word, holding my breath trying to guess what was happening next. There is many twists throughout the book that I didn't see coming aswell. I couldn't put it down!!! Despite knowing I should give myself a break to collect my thoughts and calm my nerves.
It was very well written and I will be buying her new book which I believe was released last week! Thank you Smashbomb for the giveaway and allowing me to find this hidden gem!
