"I mainly work as a cinematographer, and I recently had the opportunity to shoot a new film for Milcho Manchevski. It was like being paid to attend a master class in filmmaking. I love this film not just because of its innovative structure but because of the way it transported me to a war-torn country I’d only heard about in the news."

"Bottle Rocket remains my favorite Wes Anderson movie—and I love all of his movies. Dignan was a character I felt I knew from my life but had never seen in a movie, much less as the lead of a movie. “How did an asshole like Bob get such a nice kitchen?” is one of my favorite lines . . . and it’s offscreen."

"Fellini. Here it’s absolutely impossible to choose. What a gift to have such a complete selection of a great artist’s oeuvre. I had the pleasure of watching Fellini shoot a scene from City of Women at Cinecittá. I was flattered when he said, “Ah, you’re the young director I’ve heard so much about,” although I was barely younger than he."

A story of one man's obsession with a woman who wanted something else. Unfortunately, I found this book to be a touch too sterile for my taste, lacking in humour and devoid of the historical connections I expect to find in period fiction. "She’s the children’s writer with whom I most identify. She said, ‘By some lucky chance, I remember exactly how I felt and thought at 11.’ That struck a chord with me. The Story of the Treasure Seekers was a breakthrough children’s book. Oswald is such a very real narrator, at a time when most people were writing morality plays for children."

I wish there half-star ratings on these things. I really enjoyed Cain's and Charlie's story. However, so far in the series, it isn't my favorite. If I could, I'd rate this a 4 star while Ten Tiny Breaths and One Tiny Lie would be rated a 4.5. Alas, we can only give a full star, so I've rated it a 3.

A simple yet clever book to read to children. They will love the illustrations, I know I did, as the story unfolds about a mother and her cubs. A strong message is put in a way that the children will enjoy and remember, rather than just being scared.
