"I don’t think I’d be in this business if it wasn’t for Naughty Marietta, with Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. I was 14 and I was SO in love with Nelson Eddy I thought it was the end of the world, and I didn’t just like Jeanette MacDonald, I was Jeanette MacDonald! You know, at 14. And at 14 I also thought, Nelson Eddy married somebody and I thought he needed a much younger woman. I think I saw Naughty Marietta 48 times. I wasn’t even interested in show business until then; I did school plays and that kind of thing, but I hadn’t thought of it as a career until I got hooked."

So. frikking. funny. I think I might have died a few times due to lack of oxygen. My cats may also require therapy from the cacophany spouting from my facial orifice. 4.5 stars

At first I wanted to stop reading because I had a feeling I knew how it would end and thought that the leadup to the end would be boring. I'm glad I carried on reading.

I love this new "add to list" option when rating things! Now I don't need paper when I see a book, movie or game that I'm interested in I just add it to list. 😊

"This was on my high school reading list. I loved every bit of it. I have always wanted to read it again. If I am on a desert island, I will have plenty of time."

This kid's book tells about the adventures of a mouse born to a human family. I remember loving it as a kid, but I didn't really enjoy it this time around. I found Stuart a rather immature character. The story is finally beginning to go somewhere when the book stops.

"This is a portrait of a city I love as well as a self-portrait of a woman who changed my life profoundly, and who I miss every day. Through the oral history tradition she helped found with her groundbreaking book, “Edie,” Stein chronicled the histories of prominent Los Angeles families, including her own, through edited interviews with a huge cast of characters, a masterwork by the most intuitive conversationalist I ever knew."

This isn't a very long speech, it probably would fit onto maybe 20 pages written without illustrations, but I found this really powerful. I read it on my bus to work and, being in a transition period between jobs, it has helped me to think about the fact that it is okay to make mistakes. It is okay to experience failure. I think I embrace imagination already a lot, but it is really nice to get a reminder that this is a good thing. Jo Rowling's speech was really powerful and I think everyone should read it.

Wow this was a thrilling and edgy ride to be a part of. Amazing writing and characters. There is nightmares, murder, love interests, romance (and a sexy romance at that), intrique and so much more in this story. The writing makes me feel as if I was a part of this story with the characters. I felt as if I was in their lives and seeing it as it was happening. I love when a writer makes me feel like that. Linda did an amazing job with this first story in this series and I can't wait to see what happens next
