Interesting but not scary
A Puritan family lives by themselves off the land to farm, raise their children and suffer through their lives barely scraping by. The perception of evil forces slowly overruns the family and they start to point fingers at each other as for who is to blame.

Short review today, but I had not heard much about this until a friend recommended. I enjoyed more than I thought I would for a film with a slow start. It seems I like slow burn movies ore than most. I can stay with a film if it seems interesting or I feel like it is going somewhere and will have a decent climax.

I did not think the film was scary at all with not even any jump scares, but the characters were interesting and the family dynamics were extreme especially once there is doubt and paranoia about what is happening to them.

Since I am an American, I did find some of the dialect hard to comprehend at times so much so that I actually turned the Netflix subtitles on to make sure I didn't miss anything.

It's not like it's a fantastic film that will stay with me or anything; however, I feel it is unique and interesting and well worth 95 minutes of your life.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via Voracious Readers Only. It was a retelling - from the blurb it mentions the story being a cross between Beauty and the Beast and The Pied Piper. It definitely was a cross between those two stories too.

It took me a little longer to read because I had a hard time getting into the book at first. It seemed like it was a bit slow for the first part, then it got interesting and picked up quite a bit. But then when I was very engrossed into the story, the end came rather suddenly and I felt like it was a bit abrupt and needed more closure.

It was also a bit more difficult for me getting through some of this book because it was quite dark and heavy in parts. It was a good book overall, but a bit more on the dark, heavy side of things that leaves you searching out for the spark of hope, which there is some, but not as much as I’d like.

I was very interested in parts of the book and the different aspects and unique perspectives, but I wish there had been a bit more to the story with a little more hope. I was a bit like huh? when the book ended cause it’s taken me a bit to process it.

I would read another book by this author especially if it was a continuation of this story.

Not what I was expecting
I wasn't expecting to like this movie as much as i did. I loved the cover of blackbird, and found my friends and I laughing at a lot at the hidden adult humour.

I love fantasy and the Harry Potter feel but I thought the first one was better. I also felt the title should be different, grindelwald only committed one crime and was it REALLY a crime? (1 more)
The acting I thought was great. I love Johnny Depp.

Couldn't put it down. I read this in a day. The only real complaint I have is that the world building was not very good! It had a good plot and characters. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Netgalley.

It took me nearly a year to finish the audiobook. Kamau is long-winded, pensive and thoughtful. What he is not, is always funny or engaging. Glad I finished it because I feel the world does need his point of view. I remain a semi fan.

Robot Rocky
A decent film I liked more than I thought I would. Great production including Stan Winston's former studio doing life size bots, Steven Speilberg as Executive producer, cool cast and neat SFX. Kinda Rocky for Robots but has a nice feel good vibe to it.

Overall this was a good book. I liked the plot and most of the characters. I felt like the book just ended and it could have had a few more chapters. It went from crazy to end. I really wanted to know what happened with the apartment.
