Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Poison Study (Study, #1) in Books

This was a good book, I read it back in 2007 and I loved it. Now that I reread it I still like it but I have matured as a reader and thus the writing is not as good as I once thought.
The characters were loveable but I found myself unable to fully relate to the main characters. I thought that the author could have drawn out the characters more and developed them better. I also thought that the ending seemed a little too wrapped up.
All in all, I thought it was an enjoyable read and I will continue on with the series. I just think that I need a couple books in between.

Roxanne (13 KP) rated Taken by the Minotaur (Taken by the Minotaur #1) in Books

Not the best erotica I've ever read but not the worst either. I found it to have a bit of a plot which was good and I do like mythology. Some parts I found quite hot but others...not so much. I think it was a bit wasted on me really being from Cornwall...it's a farmer's paradise down here and there are many cows...many, many cows. I must admit I have never found any of them remotely sexy in any way...until they became a steak (medium-rare please) sooo I guess intercourse with a Minotaur just doesn't really do it for me. The only parts I enjoyed was the back story and when I was able to forget that this being was a human/bull creature...with a monster penis.

Best super heros show in a long while
I have to say when i looked at the pictures and trailer for this show i thought it was going to be a spoof superheros show. However i was very wrong. This show is brilliant and dark and full of real world problems being adressed in a brilliant way. Ive always been a marvel girl over Dc so i actually knew nothing about this coming in. I have to say its a refreshing change of pace. I am loving this series so far and if you havent seen it yet i would say its a must watch.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Lost in Wonderland has got to be one of the weirdest books Ive ever read, and if Ive read a weirder book than this one, then this is the weirdest book Ive read this year.
Okay, the books weirdness is what intrigued me to read the book in the first place. But let me say just how weird this book really is:
The book starts with a character named Mouse. Honestly, I thought the book started with a legit mouse (it really sounded like one as well). A flipping mouse! Who starts a book with a mouse?! Really, I just got so confused for awhile at the very beginning, so to save everyone elses sanity, the main character is not actually a mouse.
Its a reference to some of the characters involved in Lewis Carrolls Alice In Wonderland. After that got cleared out, the plot actually made a lot more sense. (Lets also keep in mind that I do not remember the synopsis of a book. I read it, I find it interesting, I get the book myself, and then actually read the book. Maybe Ill remember the synopsis if Im lucky.)
But anyways, Lost In Wonderland is extremely weird. As in, top of the notch weird. Its disturbing and gruesome and twisted. But its such a good kind of weird, that I think this entire series would be a really cool TV show. Lost In Wonderland is basically Law & Order, CSI - just think of any crime related shows - with a fairy tale twist. I just cant get how awesome this would be on an actual screen, and I just want to see if Peacock incorporates any other fairy tales or just Alice In Wonderland.

It seemed like a rehash of a lot of different things that have been around for a long time. I didn't feel encouraged or supported while reading this book. I felt more like I was being lectured and told I was bad because I wasn't doing what he thought was the right thing to do.

I can't believe how much of this book I remember, and I think I read it during the summer between 3rd and 4th grade! (The teachers called me a lazy reader, while refusing to believe I was dyslexic, which made me read slowly.) A bit too fantasy for my taste, but still a memorable read!
