"Superman is dying"
There's just something about those words, isn't there? Maybe it'sthe fact that he's the most famous Superheor of them all, or the fact that he is oftne portrayed as (effectively) a benign God-among-men, but those 3 words immediately hook you in.
Of course, we all know that it's not going to be permanent: perhaps it would be fairer to say "This incarnation of Superman is dying"!
Also, unlike [book:The Death of Superman|154795], this time his death is not caused by (essentially) being-hit-really-hard (Doomsday), but is instead an equivalent of cancer caused by a combination of events he has been through (none of which I had read): this Superman has the time to say his goodbyes over the course of this story arc: an arc that sees him slowly succumbing at the same time as another (Super)man appears, a man who claims to be Clark Kent and has all the same abilities.
It's hard, I think, to write a good Superman story: after all, the Man of Steel is virtually indestructible, so any approach that humanizes him is a good thing. Of course, that's not to say there's not lots of fighty-punchy within this (a Superman story without such? Nah!), but it's still interesting (morbid?) to see how he finally succumbs, even if it does leave several plot thread hanging!

So, prior to writing this review, I wanted to peruse the reviews on here, to see what others said, reducing the risk of writing something already said. What I found were a number of 1-Star reviews, something I found to be quite surprising!
Not every comic (or book, for that matter) will necessarily start with an amazing first arc. It may be good, yes, but it could also be polished in spots. However, despite little things that could be better, the overall content should be seen as good enough to warrant reading the second story arc.
That is how I felt at the conclusion of this first volume, a mystery of sorts that also served to introduce us to a number of characters who go on to appear as series regulars. Sure, the dialogue was not perfect (really? Comparing it to Gaiman's SANDMAN? Like trying to compare RICK & MORTY to THE LAST UNICORN!), but I can safely say that the series matures, like a well-aged wine, and later issues are much, much better.
Long and short: it's an urban fantasy with the fables we grew up with. Go in without an judgments or comparisons, and you might be pleasantly surprised. Jus' sayin'..

I was given the opportunity to read an ARC for this science fiction novel in exchange for an honest review. If you enjoy reading science fiction novels then you'll love reading Remote.
In this fabulous book there is love, mischief, fantasy and action all rolled into one suspense filled story. In this book, the main heroine was masterfully imagined along with her friends, family and the world she lives in.
Once you pick up this book it will be hard to put down and it will always have you wondering what is next. Remote is the perfect example of an author who knows what she is doing.

As someone new to Matcha, but who has been interested in trying recipes, I was thrilled for the chance to review this cookbook. It offers a selection of recipes, from breakfast and smoothies, to main dishes, to desserts, and even to cocktails. In addition to step by step instructions, the author also offered substitutions in some of the recipes (specifically notes where regular milk can be used, versus where it should not be).
So far have only gotten to try a few recipes, but am thrilled with the results.

I was psyched when I read that Jo Nesbo was doing a take on Macbeth for Hogarth. After reading this, I feel a little ambivalent. Normally, I love everything he writes, but this one was extremely slow. I think that a lot of my neither here nor there feeling has to do with the original source material, rather than Nesbo's take on it.
The setting of the 1970s really worked, and I did really like the characterization of Macbeth. I was glad that it was relatively true to the original play to the end.

I received an arc copy of this book for an open and honest review.
I'm not going to say much about the story as I don't want to give anything away but this story was difficult to put down but really uncomfortable to read! It was dark, it was twisted but not in the way you would expect,I was shocked through some of it but it just kept me wanting to read more! The story was suspenseful even though I kind of knew what was going on during the story I hoped that wasn't the case. It's a well written story and I would recommend it

I voluntary reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
I am hard pressed to find anything Carrie Ann Ryan writes that I dont enjoy. I am not a fan of contemporary romance but I know that Ryan rarely, if ever, disappoints. Inked Expressions has everything you come to love from a Ryan contemporary romance: characters with more depth than the Grand Canyon, a storyline as entertaining as it is romantic, and lets not leave out the steamy scenes between a couple youll root for from page one. Not to mention it is a friends to lovers story which is hands down one of my favorite tropes.

Ok, can I just gush about this cover? That was the first thing that caught my eye! I have a soft spot for combat and working dogs, so naturally after reading the summary I had to request this. Normally I do not go for suspense but this had great buildup and lots of twists and turns! This book slightly reminds me of D.D. Ayres's K-9 Rescue series as they are both suspense romance around a working dog. Really can not wait for book two.

While Morgan is struggling to take over the family rock shop, she finds a dead body behind the store. But when she comes back for help, the body has vanished.
The plot in this one is a bit slow, although the characters were wonderful. I found myself caring about the sub-plots more than I thought I would because of the characters. And the mystery does reach a satisfying and logical end.
