Grounded with a story about mental/ emotional abuse
Great acting by Elizabeth Moss
I gotta say: I normally don't care for remakes. But this one was pretty damn good. While it is a bummer that Universal has had such bad luck updating their classic monsters and throwing them into a shared "Dark Universe," I'm relieved that they quit while they were ahead. This movie goes to show that just because Marvel can pull off a shared cinematic universe, doesn't mean everyone should try it. It's amazing what can happen when studios abandon that route and focus on just making quality standalone movies. That is MORE THAN OKAY! Definitely check it out.

Mark and I had gone to art school, we’d met Steve, met Loz and - as a band - we got into a lot of American stuff like Dinosaur Jr., Screaming Trees and Sonic Youth. “Sonic Youth were on a real run of great albums there with EVOL and Sister but Daydream Nation was their peak and their sort of White Album for me. It changed my life and my playing with the open tunings, theguitar abuse with screwdrivers and slides, the long jams, the headspace and just the whole sprawl of it. It was like the Pete Townshend thing but taken a few steps further.”"

This story was great ! I read it in a couple hours because I couldn't put it down. Shelley Shepard Gray wrote a very detailed and very believable story and it covers some highly relevant topics today; such as depression, suicide, spousal abuse, etc,. She did it in such a way that you really feel for the characters without it being graphic and in the midst of it all she gives us a sweet story of falling in love with your best friend. I truly enjoyed this story and recommend reading it.
I give it 4 stars out of 5 for the great story line, well developed characters, and for explaining some hard topics. I recommend reading this book.

If the people speaking in this documentary were to be believed, The Shining is actually about the Holocaust, the American-Indian genocide, sexual liberation, sexual abuse, the destruction of society, the number 42, the ancient Greek legend of the Minotaur, all wrapped up in a confession about how Stanley Kubrick helped fake the moon landing. Also, you should watch it in reverse whilst simultaneously watching it normally, preferably with both projected over one another...

I'm not sure just how much I buy into any of that, but there's certainly some wild shit being thrown around in this documentary. Worth a watch, complimented with alcohol, or maybe even some of the Devil's Lettuce.
