With some involvement with the man behind The Conjuring The Swamp Thing offers an interesting spin on this Horror DC character. Not to give much away but from the opening scene with the people on the Swamp and what happens to them you are being eased into a more adult DC experience, which to me really does fit the source material. It's also nice that they introduce the story before cramming in the Swamp Thing which works better as it builds up the tension.
Its got excellent special effects which was reminiscent of John Carpenters the thing at one point and a great soundtrack. That paired with the quality of the acting and if the rest of the show lives upto the pilot it should be a brilliant addition to the DC universe streaming service.

Robin Williams- Duh!
Another classic. It's funny, heart warming, family friendly and can be loved by anyone of any age. My 5 year old nephew enjoys it!
As one of, if not the first full makeover film it sets the standard for all future films of the same thing. As a child, I thought Mrs. Doubtfire was a separate actress!
I love this film somewhat more now as an adult because it tackles real life problems. The divorced parents especially, as this seems more and more common these days. It also shows a loving father, willing to do anything to be with his children which is such a breath of fresh air after so many films with absent fathers that couldn't give a damn.
Lastly, it's Robin Williams so you know you're in for a good one, may he rest in piece.

When Horton the elephant hears a small cry for help coming from a speck of dust, he immediately does what he can. However, the other animals in the jungle think there is nothing there and try to destroy that speck of dust. Can Horton prove to them that there is someone that needs to be protected?
Rereading this as an adult, I was struck by how strong the themes of standing up for what you believe and those who need your help are. But those themes never slow down the story, which features constant danger for the Whos. I actually found myself caught up in the story once again, hoping they’d be heard in time. Add in Seuss’s rhymes and illustrations and you’ve got a wonderful book.

This book is written in the form of a diary. Though This book shows you thing though the eyes of any African American. This book is about the Negro Leagues. It tell about the times where Baseball was still considered a White man's game.
Around this time in 1948, Baseball was starting to ingrates with African American. It was when Jackie Robinson was brought to place for the Major Leagues though though out the book. People were still think that there were still a few segregated seating in ballparks. They were still signs for blacks and White signs stating around.
Though this does change though you understand what it like at that time along with baseball changing and other things about american history. You do learn about the different thing though Ameican History and good for young children and adult to understand and learn about that time.

This was another good book. I thought that the author makes the characters likeable. With that said, the writing was not amazing. It didn't flow very well. I thought that the author would choose a couple words and stick with them and never change them. If I read another "Oh my" I may scream.
I did find this an entertaining series and I'm glad that I read them. With that said, these are guilty pleasure books, those books that you may not want to openly discuss with some people. I'm not ashamed of what I read but I was glad that I read these books on my nook.
All in all, the story was good but it read like a fantasy of a young adult/teen and not as realistic as I would have hoped. The books were entertaining but they left me wanting "more"...

Edouard Cours' take on Herakles is more than worth it. Notably different than the Hercules you are used to seeing on the Disney Channel, Herakles is meant for the adult reader as it follows the mythos. With nudity and the humor to match, this is probably not something you would want you kids to get a hold of, but oh boy should YOU! Just the artwork alone is incredible. the colors were dark and gritty in a good way, helping set the tone for the comic and giving you a sense of how Herakles sees his world.
The story is done well, taking the legend that is Herakles and adding to it. The language used is modern,which makes this an easier read, though you can go pages at a time here and not see a single word and still have the story progress.

I was lucky enough to win a free copy of Matthew crow's `In Bloom` from the good reads giveaway.
I have never read anything from this author before,so I didn't know what to expect,but I can tell you I wasn't disappointed.
The story is told by fifteen year old Francis Wootton who has recently discovered he has leukaemia. Francis is very intellectual and grown up for his age,this could be due to his dysfunctional family( gay brother,absent father,mad grandmother).
During Francis treatment he meets Amber and their love blossoms,crow covers love,relationship,bravery and hardship within this book
I think this book would be classed as young adult,and very much reminds me of sue Townsend's Adrian mole.
I will be looking out for more books from this author.

I shain't think to make anyone suffer the presence of Mr. Hyde let alone my friend Dr. Jekyll. Although, not a direct quote, I can clearly hear Mr. Utterson saying this phrase.
Remember: this book was made in the 1800s and set in London words don't always mean what you think they do. My edition (1994) uses a word or two that could get someone expelled if they say it in schools today.
Had I not read this before as a preteen/teen I don't think I would have enjoyed this book as much. I think that this book is great for ages 10-15 (not that adults couldn't enjoy it). As a pre/teen it invoked deep thought; as an adult I think... it's a nice story. Still, I am quite impressed in a book (of less than 100 pages not withstanding) that was written in six days.

Murphy back to his best
Based on the true story of comedy and rap pioneer rudy ray moore,this is a delightful film that should launch eddie murphy back into the big time.
Murphy plays Moore,an entertainer desperately seeking that one break through moment that will lead to him becoming famous.That break eventually comes to him in the form of his outlandish and adult only records and stand up routine to the making and eventually success of his dolemite movie.
Murphy is at his very best here,delivering the hilarity and warmth of moore but also letting his other co-stars shine around him as well.A special mention has to go to wesley snipes as well who is hilarious as the co star and director of the dolemite movie who is always drunk off his ass and prone to the occasional temper tantrum.
