A Wild & Fun Adventure For The Whole Family!
This a very creative adaptation of the Jumanji series. This time around, the characters are transported inside the game. The writers did an excellent job of portraying the film as though the characters were actually in a video game universe.
The film is packed full of humor. Especially Jack Black's portrayal of a modern teenage girl trapped in the body of a middle-aged man. There are even some jokes designed for the older audience to get a chuckle, making it not only a good film for the family, but fun for adults as well.

Kristin (149 KP) rated How to Navigate Zombie Cave and Defeat Pirate Pete in Books

Disclaimer: I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was so excited to read this story just from the cover and blurb. Although it's "middle-grade", I found it immensely enjoyable, and I laughed myself silly quite a bit. Who wouldn't want to read a young boy exploring a zombie cave and trying to find pirate treasure? I definitely wouldn't want to BE said explorer, but Mick's story is awesome, and I couldn't put the book down until I'd finished it (and made notes right along with him as to what I'd need should I ever decide to pursue this adventure...).
5 stars!

Aasiyah Sidat (34 KP) rated Ms. Marvel: Volume 2: Generation Why in Books

Unbelievable!
So just a quick recap, this series is all about Kamala Khan, a Muslim teenager from Jersey city. She goes through everything a teenager with strict parents go through, worrying about curfew and what would happen if your parents found out you were a mask-wearing, cape-flying superhero with powers. The concept is original and I loved that there was a very unique protagonist with a relatable storyline so I was really excited to find out about the next adventure Kamala would embark on.
Unfortunately, I was not impressed.

Promoting self belief and acceptance.
Not really sure what theI point of this film was.
To me this movie made no sense other than promoting self acceptance, love and family dynamics.
I went into it expecting a scifi, empowering, adventure story, instead I found it overall lacklustre. I was honestly bored after half an hour which rarely happens and the disappointing thing was, that this could have been a great film, it had good potential.
Im not even sure this film would appeal to kids to be honest.
However I would say its very colourful and the visuals are pretty good.

Imaginative world building
Wonderful plot
A wonderful reimagining
This book is the first in the series. This book was on my list for awhile, but I had been holding off reading it. I’m glad I finally did. It was a fast paced adventure with a sprinkle of romance. It had me rooting for Cinder the whole time, and there were enough twists to keep everything interesting. The villain was good, though I think she could have been given stonger motives. This was a fantastic retelling of an old fairytale, with an awesome sci-fi twist. I would highly recommend it.

Great Adventure
So many people said this movie had no plot and was just an excuse to use technology to create a raging monkey. First of all the plot is great. Second you have Samuel L Jackson. Third King Kong isn't even about having the best plot. It's about the wow factor. Between the king himself and all his little surprise friends this turned into an incredibly high action adrenaline rush that I wish I'd seen at the theater. If you stop looking for every movie to have profound meaning and let yourself enjoy the fantasy element you'll absolutely love this.

Alexia oh how I love thee
Alexia is a true heroine and independant woman! I love her sense of adventure and fashion. She is spunky, sassy and intelligent showing that u dont have to be in the cookie cutter mold to be attractive to a guy like Lord Maccon. They are such a good pair together and compliment each other great. The character development Ms. Carriger gives to each and every character even down to the kind of shoes they had on, or sometimes lack there of is extraordinary. This new story line of the super-natural is superb.
BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated Goliath (Leviathan, #3) in Books

Goliath brought an epic conclusion to the Leviathan Trilogy. I read through this book quicker than the others (and that is saying a lot). As the crew of the Leviathan continue their mission, the action and adventure increases! Tensions rise as secrets long kept come into the light. Alek wants to do the right thing, but is his judgement clouded? If you are looking for something new to read, this trilogy is where it is at! Watching Alek and Deryn learn, grow and mature along this journey was a delight. This is a great story and one that I look forward to revisiting in the future.
Fred (860 KP) rated Mao Mao: Heroes of Pureheart in TV

Loving it!
Mao Mao is about a cat-like being who is destined to be a hero. At least that's what he thinks. Along with his friends Badgerclops & Adorabat, they fight creatures & the resident baddy, Orangusnake.
Thing is, Mao Mao can be a bit of a disaster himself. He's also a bit full of himself. In fact, it's his fault the town of Pure Heart valley. Picture a world the Care Bears might live, along with the characters from Adventure Time.
The show is really funny & the characters are great. I find myself actually laughing out loud many times any episode. Hopefully this one sticks around.

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Brides of Fu Manchu (1966) in Movies
Aug 10, 2019
For a given value of 'good', anyway: we enjoyed this immensely although probably not as the makers intended. Absurd pulp adventure as Fu Manchu, the most evil racial stereotype in the world, tries to conquer it by blowing up St Paul's Cathedral with his wireless death ray. The actual brides are fairly incidental to the plot.
Good production values, preposterous script, performances which are difficult to describe. It may be a bit racist but really, really doesn't warrant being taken that seriously. If Fu Manchu had a better HR department he could probably have got away with it, too. Hugely entertaining if you're in the right mood.
