Robinlb (5 KP) rated Kong: Skull Island (2017) in Movies

Great Adventure
So many people said this movie had no plot and was just an excuse to use technology to create a raging monkey. First of all the plot is great. Second you have Samuel L Jackson. Third King Kong isn't even about having the best plot. It's about the wow factor. Between the king himself and all his little surprise friends this turned into an incredibly high action adrenaline rush that I wish I'd seen at the theater. If you stop looking for every movie to have profound meaning and let yourself enjoy the fantasy element you'll absolutely love this.

Ozma (1 KP) rated Soulless (Parasol Protectorate #1) in Books
Nov 3, 2018 (Updated Nov 3, 2018)
Alexia oh how I love thee
Alexia is a true heroine and independant woman! I love her sense of adventure and fashion. She is spunky, sassy and intelligent showing that u dont have to be in the cookie cutter mold to be attractive to a guy like Lord Maccon. They are such a good pair together and compliment each other great. The character development Ms. Carriger gives to each and every character even down to the kind of shoes they had on, or sometimes lack there of is extraordinary. This new story line of the super-natural is superb.

BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated Goliath (Leviathan, #3) in Books
Jan 2, 2019
Goliath brought an epic conclusion to the Leviathan Trilogy. I read through this book quicker than the others (and that is saying a lot). As the crew of the Leviathan continue their mission, the action and adventure increases! Tensions rise as secrets long kept come into the light. Alek wants to do the right thing, but is his judgement clouded? If you are looking for something new to read, this trilogy is where it is at! Watching Alek and Deryn learn, grow and mature along this journey was a delight. This is a great story and one that I look forward to revisiting in the future.

Fred (860 KP) rated Mao Mao: Heroes of Pureheart in TV

Loving it!
Mao Mao is about a cat-like being who is destined to be a hero. At least that's what he thinks. Along with his friends Badgerclops & Adorabat, they fight creatures & the resident baddy, Orangusnake.
Thing is, Mao Mao can be a bit of a disaster himself. He's also a bit full of himself. In fact, it's his fault the town of Pure Heart valley. Picture a world the Care Bears might live, along with the characters from Adventure Time.
The show is really funny & the characters are great. I find myself actually laughing out loud many times any episode. Hopefully this one sticks around.

Awix (3310 KP) rated The Brides of Fu Manchu (1966) in Movies
Aug 10, 2019
For a given value of 'good', anyway: we enjoyed this immensely although probably not as the makers intended. Absurd pulp adventure as Fu Manchu, the most evil racial stereotype in the world, tries to conquer it by blowing up St Paul's Cathedral with his wireless death ray. The actual brides are fairly incidental to the plot.
Good production values, preposterous script, performances which are difficult to describe. It may be a bit racist but really, really doesn't warrant being taken that seriously. If Fu Manchu had a better HR department he could probably have got away with it, too. Hugely entertaining if you're in the right mood.

Rickey A. Mossow Jr. (689 KP) rated Aladdin (2019) in Movies
Aug 12, 2019
Good yet unnecessary adaptation of the classic animated film.
The movie did a good job of capturing the essence of the original animated film. Cast and set were able to recreate much of the fun and adventure of the original, a feat Disney is often able to do. Where the film suffers is in its foray into modern social movements seemingly for no reason, and the absence of two key voices, Gilbert Gottfried and the incomparable Robin Williams. Will Smith and Alan Tudyk are sufficient but don't come close to the former iconic role players. Overall, the film was good, yet in the grand scheme of things seemed unnecessary.

Tammykayla (20 KP) rated Christopher Robin (2018) in Movies

Re-entering the 100 acre woods
Many of us remember growing up watching our favourite characters from the 100 acre wood; Winnie the pooh, Eyore, Tigger, Piglet...
This new film allows us to reimerse ourselves once again in this world.
We follow Christopher Robin, older now, having lost his childish imagination and sense of adventure. We see him with his own family, who he doesn't have time for and in a job he has poured his attention into yet received nothing in return.
Christopher Robin finds an old friend who helps him remember what is really important and how to overcome the Woozles in your life.

Otway93 (580 KP) rated Star Wars: Master & Apprentice in Books

Story (2 more)
Convoluted
Unadventurous
Canon, but not really worth the read.
Contains spoilers, click to show
One spoiler ahead that doesn't really add much but it's nice to know, if we didn't know it already.
A pretty poor attempt at a Star Wars story, especially as it's considered canon.
This may be the second earliest installment in the Star Wars canon, but it fails to add anything to the saga, apart from we find out that Count Dooku was Qui-Gon Jin's master.
The story is mainly based around an adventure featuring Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan involving something about a princess and some jewel thieves...pretty uninspiring characters in terms of originality.

The Rescuers to the Rescue.
The Plot: Bernard (Bob Newhart) and Miss Bianca (Eva Gabor), two New York City mice, are members of the Rescue Aid Society, an international team that operates beneath the United Nations and comes to the aid of those in need. After receiving word that Penny (Michelle Stacy), a young orphan, has been abducted by Madame Medusa (Geraldine Page), an evil woman seeking a precious diamond, the two set out to bring her back home, with help from other animal friends.
It has adventure, drama, comedy, love, a percious diamond, a evil villian and more.
A classic movie from disney.
