Bethr1986 (305 KP) rated Crystal Shard (Paladins of Crystal. #1) in Books
Aug 16, 2022
Crystal's life pretty much sucks - she was abandoned at birth, she feels a burden to her adoptive brother and his pregnant wife and, on top of that, she has just assaulted her boss! She wishes she could just be whisked away from it all until she is then she just wants to get home to her miserable life... until she goes on an adventure with a few rather handsome, extremely hot men, especially one who she would give anything to be with but he is betrothed to another, on this adventure can she find more than herself?
This is the first book in a new series by the author, a fantastically written story with some twists and turns. Talk about having some saucy dreams honestly I was blushing! Totally understandable though! The style Nicola has written in everything just flows and there's no confusion about what's happening, she makes it so easy to follow. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, the camaraderie between the group and the way they fit together is just like a jigsaw puzzle, they were meant to find each other. I've read other books by Nicola and I get so into her writing I get lost in the worlds she has created. She has got a fantastic style and has you captured with every written word it doesn't seem forced or let's put that bit in it fills a gap, I cannot give her enough praise.
I highly recommend this book and give Nicola.M.Cameran's other books a read. I can't wait to read the next one.

Merissa (13194 KP) rated Synergy (The Synergy Series #1) in Books
Jun 8, 2023
I found the start of this book quite hard to get into as you read chapters from many different points of view, as well as locations. To constantly change viewpoints in such a manner made it a bit 'flighty'. However, the story does settle down and is usually told from the perspectives of Kanai and Syn. Syn is completely new to the world of the Supernaturals and has no idea what is going on, why or even how? Kanai is set to become the new head of IPA so he knows more than most. Even he is stumped, to begin with, on just what is happening.
This book is full of adventure and murder, but you will need to stick with it until you find out more. I should also add that it comes with a major cliffhanger warning! The relationship between Kanai and Synergy is hot, although it does just seem to 'happen'. One minute they are snarking at each other, the next they are in bed! They do make a good pair though and I am looking forward to seeing where S. Reynolds takes it.
Well-written, with some grammatical errors but nothing that disrupts the story, this is a fast-moving supernatural adventure romance to keep you on your toes.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated The Moon Coin in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[The Moon Coin] by [Richard Due] was an adventure into childhood for adults like me, and a great trip through imagination for young people. I know as I was growing up I wished that the lands I heard about in stories were real and that I could travel there. What [Mr. Due] has created is worlds of imagination, to which he has allowed his characters travel. Unfortunately, what they find is not exactly what the stories portrayed.
I encourage everyone who has an imagination, and those in desperate need of one, to take the journey to the Moon Realm with Lily and Jasper. Of course, at this point we know more than Jasper so I guess I must read on!

MyBookObsession (29 KP) rated The Fault in Our Stars in Books
Sep 6, 2017
Heartbroken. Somebody told me John Green wrote this story based on his daughters life which made my tears burn my face as I read, then watched and took the adventure with the characters. Hazel and Augustus will forever be in my heart.
The plot twist was just too much, I'm in love with a tragedy that I journey on now and again.
Read it more than once. Take your time. This is a journey that'll stick with you for the rest of your life.
I'm sorry but you HAVE to read this. You must cry like me and believe in the love the two characters shared. What a story!

Lindsay (1774 KP) rated The Hidden Treasure of Dutch Buffalo Creek in Books
Sep 7, 2017
The Hidden Treasure of Buffalo Creek is a wonderful book to read. If you are a historical fiction or historical fan this book may be for you. You learn about history or some events as you go through the adventures with James. It a sweet it tells you about family history and about some of the history of the eras you may not have lived it or want to learn about.
It goes through some of the lives of a few people and how they got here. You learn to grow and follow faith along the way. James is the main one. You go along for an adventure. You may learn about some things that have been going on in the Germany or the USA.

Enyeh (71 KP) rated The War of the Worlds in Books
Aug 9, 2017
Through the first 2/3 of this book, I thought I was going to be disappointed - in fact, given how far I'd gotten without feeling particularly engaged, I think I can say I was in fact disappointed. But in the end, Wells makes up for it: not with any extreme plot twists or cheap literary tricks, but with a sense of profundity, with a moral. War of the Worlds isn't the Hollywood movie that came after it, or even the notorious radio show that caused the panic of a nation - instead, it's a novel about a man and his thoughts in the face of the worst disaster. It's a discussion of humanity, psychology, and morality, disguised as an alien adventure.

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated Prudence (The Custard Protocol, #1) in Books
Apr 27, 2018
I absolutely adore Prudence, both the book and the girl. I don’t have a single bad thing to say about it other than I wish I had the next book in the series right now, because I’m quite unhappy to leave her world.
Gail Carriger has a knack for making incredible characters full of life and wit and hilarity. Every story I’ve ever read by her has made me want to jump right into the book and live there. It doesn’t even matter which character I’d be, as long as I was there. Added to that is her eloquent, witty, and distinct writing style. I wholeheartedly recommend Prudence to any fan of YA fiction, drama, romance, adventure, or supernatural adventures in an air ship.

Kaylin (39 KP) rated Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018) in Movies
Feb 17, 2019
Pretty solid performances throughout (1 more)
Tons of branching paths to take
Wrong Path Mate
It's pretty impossible to talk about Bandersnatch without spoiling the entire thing, which I don't want to do because I feel as though everyone should give it a watch. That being said, if you don't like Black Mirror, you're not going to like this. It's got the same bleak tone that the rest of the series has. Don't go into this expecting a happy ending. It's branching pathways make for a unique viewing experience that took me back to my childhood playing VHS adventure games. I'd say give it a watch, but set aside enough time to explore the branching pathways.

Maris (8 KP) rated Emergency Contact in Books
Jun 10, 2019
Emergency Contact was a okay book for me. It was different then what I usually read but hear are my thoughts on this book..
We have two character point of views, Penny and Sam's. I always looked forward to reading Sam's point of view since he had a lot going on for himself and that's what kept me going with this book. Penny was interesting but not as much as Sam. It took me awhile to finish the book just cause I felt like there wasn't enough "Drama/ & or adventure" between all the characters.
I did like the ending of the book, I was a bit worried on how it was going to plan out but the ending was good for this story.
