If you think that this is just going to be a written version of rocketman think again. The film was great, this book was amazing.
I've always appreciated a lot of Elton John's music but I would never have described myself as a huge fan but after this book I can safely say I am now a fan!
This book has made me laugh, cry and feel disgusted but I would recommend it to everyone! Best book I've read all year!!

I don't know if there's another book after this with the same characters - I will look that up after this review, but even if there isn't, I feel like the ending was realistic. I couldn't imagine how hard it must be for these kids to heal and gain a sense of self respect or confidence after everything they've been through, so it felt right that Ellen ended their story in the midst of their healing process. I'm aware that not everyone survives what they did and, if they survive physically, too many don't come back in the emotional and mental sense. Though each character did survive their ordeal (main characters, anyway), and that's not always the case, it was eye opening to see just how deeply affected they were by their experiences and how hard it was for them to recover. Traffick, like it's prequel, was all too real and all too heart breaking.

Erika (17788 KP) rated Ip Man 4: The Finale (2019) in Movies

Ip Man 4 is indeed a finale. The Ip Man films are always solid, with interesting stories and beautifully choreographed fighting.
Donnie Yen, is, of course, amazing, and I've always loved his portrayal of Ip Man. I know Ip's family is very thankful for the films, and likes them. That's always a plus in my book.
Ip takes a trip to San Francisco when Bruce Lee provides the ticket and hotel. But, Ip is mainly using the trip so he can look at schools for his son.
The film portrays San Fransisco at the time, and the racism against the American-born Chinese and the immigrants. There was another interesting perspective to me as well, the Chinese Masters are mad with Bruce Lee for wanting to introduce Chinese Martial Arts to people that aren't Chinese.
Of course, it wouldn't be an Ip Man film if he wasn't going around, kicking people's asses justly. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie, and it was a nice break after seeing Uncut Gems earlier that day.

It is always interesting to see the world through the innocence of a child. It is especially interesting when the subject matter we as adults don't always feel comfortable discussing.
Jessilyn and Gemma are best friends. The only problem with that is that Jessilyn is white and Gemma is black. Today not too many people would see a problem with that, but in the 1930's tha was a big problem. After Gemma parents are killed in a tragic accident, Jessilyn's parents decide to take in Gemma as their own. The are faced with lots of ridicule and hatred for their choice. The story is told through Jessilyn's eyes, and it will open everyone's eyes to why we should all see each other as people not as a race.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2200 KP) rated Gone with the Twins (League of Literary Ladies #5) in Books

Bea Cartwright is facing stiff competition from twins who have set up a bed and breakfast on South Bass Island themed after Gone with the Wind. While she figured out how to get customers back – any customers at all – a local relator is murdered and Bea’s friend Chandra starts acting suspicious. Can Bea clear her?
I love the characters in this series, so it’s always a delight to visit them. This book is no exception. The pace appears to lag at times, but it also picks back up again soon. I certainly always had a hard time putting it down.
NOTE: I received a copy of this book.
