Phillip McSween (751 KP) rated Tyler Perry's A Fall From Grace (2020) in Movies

Acting: 3
To say the acting is weak is an understatement. Everything is either overdone or underdone, but nothing in the middle. A shame too as there are some really stellar names on the billing. I have honestly seen better dramatizing out of six-year-olds.
Beginning: 5
Characters: 6
Cinematography/Visuals: 3
Conflict: 7
If it’s one thing I can respect Tyler Perry for, it’s finding a way to incorporate consistent drama. More than most, he gets it. What I mean by that is, he understands that drama never has to be forced, rather you put two conflicting sides in the same scene and the drama will happen naturally. The problem here is that the drama in question wasn’t always interesting or intriguing.
Entertainment Value: 3
Memorability: 0
Pace: 5
Got bored real quick and I try and hold interest in movies even when I have to force it at times. Because there were so many moving parts and a lot of what felt like means to no ends, Also way longer than it needed to be.
Plot: 4
Resolution: 2
Overall: 38
Outside of some mildly interesting conflict and decent characters that were buried by a sticky plot, this movie left a lot to be desired. I tried, I really did. But with a movie so low budget it doesn’t even look presentable on a 4K TV, I have to pass on Tyler Perry’s A Fall From Grace.

I’m really enjoying following Attica Morgan’s exploits (see what I did there? That’s not even a hint that I want more, that’s a “let there be more!”). Attica’s love of Paris, even at this really uncertain time between the fall of the Bastille and the actual start of the Revolution, is so well described that I felt that I could be there. I love a book where I can learn something. I’d always thought that the people released the prisoners from the Bastille (or in fact they didn’t, because it was virtually empty - or so I’ve been told), and then BAM! Voila la Révolution française! Well, by the sounds of it there was a bit of a tense hiatus between one thing and the next (we won’t discuss the fact that I was a French teacher in a former life - sshh!).
Anyway, if you enjoy a well written, historical romp, with an opinionated, strong female lead character - then this is the book for you! I can’t wait for the next one (not even hinting)!!
Many thanks to Readers First for sending me a copy of this book.

The book was supposed to be a crime book but there were so many other things going on. When thinking of the book I always remember the friendship between the 2 main characters than the murders.
As the author split the chapters between the 2 main characters so we got to hear from both of them. How different the 2 lives were considering how close they are.
I really felt sorry for 'Momti' and how she has been given the life she has. She tries to hard but it seems she is destined to go the same way all the other young women she meets throughout the story. My dislike of Sacha grew as the book went on. He was given a good life and seemed to throw it away.
I'm glad it followed the 2 characters from childhood through to adulthood as it gave me a chance to see what they become after the childhoods they lived. Just goes to show that whatever childhood you have, you have the power to chance your future and become what you want to become.
I would say this book has such a large target audience. It can be read from teenagers to people in their 40s.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.
