I loved the character development in this book, especially between Dalton and Casey. This was the main thing that kept me reading more. (1 more)
The mystery of who did what kept me guessing unlike a lot of other books. I even took notes and STILL made an incorrect deduction! I loved the surprising twist of who committed the crimes.
The book, as a whole was incredibly fascinating and always threw something in to put you on the wrong track if you're trying to figure out who did what. The idea of someone maybe doing one thing but something not adding up to make that correct always kept me wanting more. I particularly loved the dynamic between Dalton and Casey and I was constantly thinking that they should just get together already! I read the second book but restarted the whole series after taking a long break (evidently too long). I would definitely recommend this series to any bookworm that loves mysteries and thrillers.

A child who has been protected from the Wildlings by her Daddy finds out that her life isn't what she thought it was.

Not quite as horror as I was expecting, the fantasy nature of this one made it much more enjoyable.

A good story with a nice progression to it. It was nice to see Liv Tyler in something after what seems like such a long time. I was also pleased to see Brad Dourif, he's the face you always see in things, and he's always just a little creepy.

The audio effects were good in this one, the extra little grumbles and noises as she's becoming less human, and the enhanced hearing. Each bit comes together to add something to the scenes. I didn't feel like the visual effects quite met up to their standards though.

Still though, this was an enjoyable watch, and although there were some predictable bits everything was genuinely entertaining.

A potentially great story about alien contact was really let down by the plot more than anything. I have seen the original and while that would be regarded as well ahead of it's time made in 1951 this will shortly be forgotten. This has the big budget modern effects otherwise the main difference of this and the original is the reason for the alien contact. The original made after WW2 was all about living in peace or risk destruction for our violent actions. This is all about the environment if we can't change our ways we risk killing the earth and ourselves. Oh and John Cleese is always worthy of more than a few minutes cameo?!
Great start but a missed opportunity. If you want a good action, drama or disaster film on a similar them watch Independence day, War of the Worlds, or The day after tomorrow instead.
