"“I think ‘Two lovers missing the tranquillity of solitude’ is one of my favourite lines ever written. ‘Days of speed and slow time Mondays / Pissing down with rain on a boring Wednesday’ – all that stuff, man. ‘Opening the windows and breathing in petrol.’ That was my life; we lived right by the gas station. I was like, ‘This sucks. I gotta get out of here.’ The song summed it all up perfectly. And it was all played on an acoustic guitar. I’d always look at the way that The Jam dressed, too. I’d say to myself, ‘Someday, I’m gonna be able to buy me them mod clothes, man.’ I still can’t afford them mod clothes, but whatever. I do my best! Anyway, after that was when I started getting into all the Sub Pop bands, like The Afghan Whigs."

Frankenstein represents some of the best material from the original Universal Monsters run.
Considering it came out just a few years after feature length talkies were even a thing, the plot moves at a swift pace, and never gets boring. We know all that we need to about the characters involved with no unnecessary padding out, and boasts wonderful dialogue that is engaging throughout
What's more, it's runtime is brimming with incredible shots, from Frankenstein and the monster on top of the mountain, to the monster accepting a flower from a little girl, to the mob of townspeople marching towards the windmill (a shot that has always stuck with me since being a child).

Frankenstein is a fantastic realisation of the misunderstood beast narrative, and an incredibly important stepping stone in the history of horror. Iconic in every way.

An erotic ride....

Two for Tuesday is an erotic, very sensual story. Not only does it draw you into a heady sexual relationship but it highlights the differences between different social backgrounds.....Mel being a more country girl and Marcus being from the city.
    Colour is only really referred to once or so, the cheeky stereotype.....which Mel clears up by saying she's gone back and forth over that line haha.

I like both characters, though Marcus was a tad needy, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable......just more realistic.

Bit of a spoiler......it gives hope that things can happen/get back on track after years apart. Also that sexual chemistry can't always be worn out!!

Definitely an adult only read.....to be read alone as it gets pretty hot and very detailed!
