Megan (14 KP) rated Shawn Mendes by Shawn Mendes in Music
Sep 9, 2018
One of my favourites
Shawn has quite a few genres of music within this one album, and although some are different to his usual style, they are all equally amazing!
I listen to this album very often and love every single song, although some more than others such as Nervous, In My Blood and Lost In Japan.
I would 100% recommend this to anyone

Ross (3284 KP) rated Boz Scaggs by Boz Scaggs in Music
Apr 30, 2020
Rolling Stone's 496th greatest album of all time
Not an artist I was familiar with. To be honest, I though Boz Scaggs was a character from a Western. An interesting album, at times reminiscent of Joe Cocker and Neil Young, at other times like the Bugsy Malone soundtrack. Not my cup of tea and unlikely one I will listen to again. The yodelling was mercifully brief.
Rolling Stone's 481st greatest album of all time
D'Angelo isn't an artist I was familiar with. I would have assumed this album would be hip-hop, and was a little surprised at the soulfulness of the songs. However despite the first few songs being quite enjoyable, thereafter it descends into poor Prince demo tracks.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Appetite for Destruction by Guns N' Roses in Music
Jul 1, 2020
Rolling Stone's 62nd greatest album of all time
Phenomenal album, and I am so glad to have finally listened to it in its entirety. So many classic hard rock songs on here (as well as *that* one), from the aggressive pomp of Welcome to the Jungle to the aggressive pomp of Nightrain and the aggressive pomp of Mr Brownstone, it is an absolute classic.

Rolling Stone's 454th greatest album of all time (2020)
I had heard of this album through Elis James' podcast as he is a big fan. I was expecting it to be much more MC5-style garage rock, so was surprised at how experimental and noisy it was. While a little disappointed (based on my own overbuilt expectations), I will give it another listen later.

Apr 9, 2021
Rolling Stone's 479th greatest album of all time (2020)
I wouldn't dare suggest this has been added to the list to give more diversity, and if it had been that would not be a bad thing. But it really is a dreadful album of low quality 90s Eurovision rejects. "Bidi bidi bom bom" and a Spanish language cover of The Pretenders' "Back on the Chain Gang". Yeesh.

Imogen SB (4507 KP) rated Are You Satisfied by Slaves in Music

Good but not quite there
Slaves are like marmite. You either love them or hate them. In my instance, this album is what made me come to enjoy Slaves, but in no way do I recognise this at their best album. As much as it's full of punchy punk revival bops, they aren't as well thought out as I think they possibly could be.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Station to Station by David Bowie in Music
May 18, 2020
Rolling Stone's 324th greatest album of all time
Interesting Bowie album, only a few songs here but one of those lasts over 10 minutes. Golden Years was the only song I was familiar with beforehand so it was a new experience. While this isn't Bowie's best material, it is consistent with the style of his better work, so a reassuring listen. Good 70s glam rock.
