Ross (3284 KP) rated Phil Specter: Christmas Gift For You by Various Artists in Music
Jun 15, 2020
Rolling Stone's 142nd greatest album of all time
Yes I listened to this in June. Yes I loved it. This is a staple in the Thompson household every year from around mid-November. It has probably 5 of the best Christmas songs of all time (especially Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)).

Ross (3284 KP) rated Achtung Baby by U2 in Music
Jul 1, 2020
Rolling Stone's 63rd greatest album of all time
I think this is when my enjoyment of U2 would diminish. I was surprised to enjoy their earlier albums, but this seems like the point where style overcame substance. One is an amazing song, but there wasn't an awful lot else to enjoy.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan in Music
Jul 8, 2020
Rolling Stone's 9th greatest album of all time
More Dylan. A much better sound than his later work, but with no real standout songs for me. Not a bad listen, but nothing particularly memorable and it is hard for me to see why it was so far through the list.

Angel Olsen recommended Here Come the Warm Jets by Brian Eno in Music (curated)

Kieran Shudall recommended track Isn't It a Pity by Nina Simone in Emergency Ward by Nina Simone in Music (curated)

Imogen SB (4507 KP) rated Razorlight by Razorlight in Music
Jun 25, 2019
When I got my first car, I remember I 'borrowed' this CD from my friend and had it on constantly. Not only is it Razorlight's best album, but every time it comes on it gives me the best but oddest memories of driving in the summer in my old battered corsa.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! by Devo in Music
May 6, 2020
Rolling Stone's 442nd greatest album of all time
Absolutely mad. Some great songs mixed in with a number of deliberately awful sounding songs (especially their version of Satisfaction by the Stones). I had been meaning to listen to some Devo for some time so was glad to get the chance now.
