Rolling Stone's 142nd greatest album of all time
Yes I listened to this in June. Yes I loved it. This is a staple in the Thompson household every year from around mid-November. It has probably 5 of the best Christmas songs of all time (especially Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)).

Rolling Stone's 63rd greatest album of all time
I think this is when my enjoyment of U2 would diminish. I was surprised to enjoy their earlier albums, but this seems like the point where style overcame substance. One is an amazing song, but there wasn't an awful lot else to enjoy.

Rolling Stone's 9th greatest album of all time
More Dylan. A much better sound than his later work, but with no real standout songs for me. Not a bad listen, but nothing particularly memorable and it is hard for me to see why it was so far through the list.

"People always try to push albums on you, but I'm stubborn; I like to discover on my own. I knew one day Brian Eno would make sense to me. One day he did. I drove around Asheville with the windows down and cried to this album. That was life-changing"

Isn't It a Pity by Nina Simone

"This is from an amazing live album called Emergency Ward that I found in a record store not long ago. This George Harrison cover has such a powerful vocal performance from Nina with this big dynamic piano backing her up for about 11 minutes. There's something really meditative about it."

When I got my first car, I remember I 'borrowed' this CD from my friend and had it on constantly. Not only is it Razorlight's best album, but every time it comes on it gives me the best but oddest memories of driving in the summer in my old battered corsa.

Absolutely mad. Some great songs mixed in with a number of deliberately awful sounding songs (especially their version of Satisfaction by the Stones). I had been meaning to listen to some Devo for some time so was glad to get the chance now.
