Abbey Road is one of the best Beatles albums ever produced
This is a classic record, with a slight moodier undertone than Revolver and a follow on from the White Album. "Come Together" and "I Want You" are some of the standout bluesy tracks, swinging their Stratocaster and Gibson guitars into a minor key. Not to mention "Here Comes The Sun" which changes the feel entirely. An absolute work of art.

A Young Band Going Places
Before the giant screens and satellite link up, U2 were part of a generation of driven, earnest bands that would steer rock music away from the AOR excesses that would eventually engulf U2.

A scorching album of the pre-Joshua Tree U2 and a great companion piece to Rattle and Hum, demonstrating the change in scale they underwent in less than five years.

Taken as a whole, it’s a pretty patchwork affair, but so are all Alice Cooper albums, even the great ones. And while this isn’t one of the great ones, it also doesn’t sound like the work of a washed-up has-been who’s out of time and ideas

Before hipsters were really a thing, this mellow music man was setting a new genre all of his own. Quiet, whispered lyrics, a dreamy feel, and a melancholy whimsy, that makes you want to brew a herbal tea and sit on the porch as the sun goes down. As good lyrically as musically, almost every half decent alt-folk and alt-country act since this album owes it a debt.

"More or less a whole record is ‘The Blue Album’ from Weezer. Those songs themselves are so simple in a way but they just penetrate, it’s just a great record. I remember saying back then that I wish I was in that band and had written this batch of songs because they’re so fun to play and so fun to sing, and we used to soundcheck to that whole record"
