District 9- was a intresting film.

The film is partially presented in a found footage format by featuring fictional interviews, news footage, and video from surveillance cameras witch is really intresting.

The story, which explores themes of humanity, xenophobia and social segregation, begins in an alternate 1982, when an alien spaceship appears over Johannesburg, South Africa. When a population of sick and malnourished insectoid aliens are found aboard the ship, the South African government confines them to an internment camp called District 9. Years later, during the government's relocation of the aliens to another camp, one of the confined aliens named Christopher Johnson tries to escape with his son and return home, crossing paths with a bureaucrat named Wikus van der Merwe.

It was Neill Blomkamp director debut and he did a great job.

District 9- mixs sci-fi with action, found footage, horror, suspense, thrills, chills, drama all into one film.

A highly reccordmend movie.

"And then I’ll go to my next one. Aliens. Jim Cameron, Sigourney Weaver. Dude, again, I am a “big movie” guy. I like the small, poignant indie, but you know, give me a Summer flick all day long. That’s what I grew up on, that’s my era. I mean, I remember seeing Star Wars at the drive-in; I’m that guy. But Aliens really upped the game for what the horror genre could be, you know what I mean? Because it was this weird mix of action and horror. You know, the first one was like straight horror, like oh my god, the creepiness, the ickiness of this thing. But then in Aliens, you’re like, “Yo, they got Marines! It’s like that? This is nuts!” It just created this frenzy in me that was like, oh, this is how it’s supposed to be done. I’ll never forget it. Any time Aliens is playing, I can’t turn away. I cannot."

"In space, no-one can hear you scream ..."

Spin-off from Aliens in which I kinda get the impression they were released before Ali3n - definitely before Resurrection - as they're very much modeled on Aliens (that's the second one: the one with the 'S'). While, for spin-off novels, they're actually not that bad, they're also not going to win any awards for literature, or set the world on fire!

(edit: a little bit of background research shows exactly that: that the story was written after Aliens, but before Alien3: indeed, the release of that later movie necessitated some changes being made in how this was planned, replacing Newt with Billie andHicks with Wilks)
