Being Alpha
Tessa and Dastien are now finally married and are on their well overdue honeymoon. Dastien wants to relax and enjoy himself with Tessa but like always she's on edge and a good thing too, because something is lurking around the corner and like always it's after her...

This book features the aftermath of what Luciana was trying to do, the whole summoning of demons. This time the demon she was trying to bring to our world is only a few moments away. The gang are back together in order to bring this demon down, except Meredith and Donovan as they are having their own problems. We get introduced to a new character along the way. This character has a pretty cool ability.

Like each book before this one we experience upset, drama and danger. All of which come together to create a good story.

I feel that this book didn't really need to happen if I'm honest, because that's what I want my reviews to be... honest. The reason I felt this is because we already defeated Luciana, we didn't then need to defeat what she did again. I like that this book was in this series and I do have mixed feelings about this and I don't know if it's because for the last seven weeks I've been reading the same series and I'm getting bored of it. Or because there is something after seven books that I don't really like about Tessa but I loved more with the other characters. This book was good, but it didn't need to happen. The buildup for the next book could of happened in the sixth and this one could of been the eighth book if that makes sense. I find that really this book should of been half of what it was, so maybe it could of just happened as a shorter story or tied in with the last book and made it long?

Anyway I am looking forward to the next book where we get to see more of Chris and his soul mate!!!
☕☕☕ - NOT A BAD BOOK

Love,

desperately wanted to hear from Edmund!
I was gifted my copy of this book, direct from the author, that I write a review was not required.

Andrew takes Edmund back to civilization, to his home in New Orleans. Andrew's coven has some members who wish to harm Edmund, to take him away from Andrew and Andrew will not have it. To turn Edmund, Andrew needs an Elder so Edmund is let lose in the coven's library to find him. Then Andrew is called home to England, so the trip to find the Elder is put on hold. That is, til a terrible accident on board.

Again, written only from Andrew's point of view, in the first person/present tense, same as book one. Knowing this going in, made it easier to overlook that personal quirk that I don't much care for books written as such.

And of COURSE I wanted to hear from Edmund! There were several keys points along the way that I really needed to hear what he was thinking.

Andrew introduces Edmund to some of his more baser pleasures, several of them, in the club with the red door, and oh that was such a surprise cos I did not see that one coming at me! So bloody hot! He also introduces Edmund to his coven's parties. But rather than Andrew go all ALPHA-protect-what-is-mine, it's Edmund who goes all don't-touch-what-isn't-yours on Felix, the one who touches Edmund. Oh of course Andrew wanted to rip Felix' head off for that, but he left Edmund stake the claim of Andrew, rather than the other way round.

The trip home to England brought some more surprises, but also tragedy, when there is a storm.

And we're left hanging!

Cliff hanger, people, of the highest order! Not QUITE the one I was expecting, but still a massive one, that could still go either way! And I have to wait til Jan next year for the final part, and Lord is that gonna be a wait!!

So, ONLY, only because Edmund doesn't have his say, because I think if he had, this may well have been a 5 star review...

Wolf Tamer (Claiming My Pack #1) by Yumoyori Wilson
Wolf Tamer is the first book in the Claiming My Pack series, and right off, I will say it's NOT Reverse Harem. Not yet. It's leading up to it, but not in this book.

Harper watches her family being murdered and manages to escape, although at a cost. She finds her way into the forest and is found by Wolfie. She is then found by Sam and Dolly, together with Rogan, who put her in the system to see if she can find a forever home away from them. This doesn't work, so she ends up with them, much to little Ian's happiness.

The author tried something very difficult in this book, and that is to have the character change from being a child to an adult IN the story. Not viewing her childhood as an adult, but actually being a child. This is hard because it's a RH book, so you've got to have the innocence of the child, and then steamy, multi-partner scenes later on.

I did enjoy this book, although there were parts that didn't make sense to me. I'm hoping they will in the later books. For example, Ian has the ability to be an Alpha, but can't be bothered even though he and Carter butt heads all the time. He is the one who mated Harper first, and has been her mate for years. So why does he back down so damned quickly to Carter at one point. And who was the strange, disembodied voice?

I also would have liked more character development about Rogan, Sam, and Dolly. All three of these characters are pivotal to the story, but all three sort of fade out until the ending.

On the whole, this was a thoroughly enjoyable book, and I would carry on with the series. Like I said though, for this book, it's NOT a RH.

* I received a copy of this book with no requirement or obligation to review. I voluntarily read this book, and the review here is my honest opinion. *

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
2019 | Action, Adventure
Lets get one thing out of the way. Fast and Furious started off semi serious. Then it got a little boring. Then Fast 5 went to Brazil and it got really good, but still semi serious. Then 6 was ok and 7 was nostalgic and touching. 8 was, a bit forgettable and a lot silly. This is not Fast and Furious. Its Fast and Furious Presents. It's not semi serious. It's not serious at all. Now that's cleared up, heres what i think.
The kids use words for the different use of the word that they use. Keeping up? Sick, doesn't actually mean you are going to actually be sick. If something is sick, it can actually mean its crazily awesome. Yeah, I know, kids huh?! Ridiculous doesn't mean it's so stupidly impossible, it can also mean it's awesomely good fun. I know, go figure?!
However, 'Ridiculous' is a perfect word for this film, both meanings of it in equal measure. It's so ridiculous, its ridiculous and all the better for being so!
Statham and Johnson have banter that wouldn't be out of place in a Dad Joke competition. They're so bad, they're bad!
The action and stunts are over the top and outrageous but you enjoy every thread of outrageousness. There is a bit of a story in amongst it all. But this is all about the action, not the story...and you don't really care. You want story, then maybe the Jason Bourne films will be up your street (and bloody good movies they are too!)
Hobbs and Shaw are what Saturday evenings are made for. Complete nonsense for your ears and eyes. Your senses will love you for it as your brain takes the night off to relax. It's full on Alpha- Male- Ego childish nonsense. The lads will lap it up. As may the ladies....ok, they might not but they will put up with it because they love you.
This is everything that you can't believe but everything you want to watch.
You want sensible? Sense and Sensibility is over there somewhere. You want to enjoy a film, then watch this. You deserve it.

Indpendent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.

For the most part, I did enjoy this book.

Its about a selkie, and I had to look up what a selkie was, because I really didn't know and so this is the first selkie book I've read.

Gregory is an alpha selkie, and Daniel a human omega. That Gregory can recognise his fated mate by sound is different, and there are lots of subtle differences to shifter lore in the book, and I really enjoyed that.

But Daniel is like a flipping ping pong ball, back and forth, almost through the whole book, and I got a bit dizzy keeping up with him! I mean, one minute he wants to mate with Gregory, then he reads something, and he doesn't. Then his friend says something, and he does. Then Gregory says something and Daniel is against it again. I really wanted to slap Daniel and make him make a decision.

I liked Gregory's mum getting involved but she does go a bit too far at points. Love Henri, Daniel's best friend. Loved Winston, who is Gregory's best friend too. Loved how he was all, "oh, okay then, thats us done, then, right?" when Gregory tells him he met his fated mate.

Both Daniel and Gregory have a voice, in the first person. I loved that Gregory's voice is what I call "proper" and Daniel makes reference to it being a Victorian voice. Gregory likes to use whole words, and proper words, rather than to shorten them to the modern version.

I LOVED that neither Gregory or Daniel was shortened though!

From what I can see, this is the first I've read of this author (unless something pops up in a box set somewhere) Will I read more? I will certainly give them a go. Will I continue with this series? I hope to be able to. I loved that I saw the next book going one way, but then was thrown for a loop later on.

So, a good book, with a difference, but one that doesn't quite hit *that* spot, you know?

3 good solid stars

The Selkie's Coat is the first book in the Waves of Fate series and we start off with a seal (obviously!) shifter and a human omega. In this omegaverse, shifters are common knowledge, human omega's are rare, and new things are being learnt all the time.

Gregory is amazed to find his fated mate when he is so young - only 100 plus years - and is determined to do the right thing and give his human mate a chance to learn about what a fated mate is. This goes against what his inner animal wants to do and causes strife between the two of them. Daniel hadn't known a human omega could even mate with a shifter so the whole thing came as a surprise to him. He is fascinated by Gregory, even more so when he gets a glimpse of his seal speaking through Gregory's human body. Understandably, though, his feelings swing like a pendulum as he doesn't understand just what is going on.

This is a lovely slow-burn romance with a sweet Alpha and a headstrong Omega. Sometimes I wanted to whomp Daniel upside the head as he seemed to swing so much and vent his frustrations on the wrong person. Don't get me wrong, I liked Daniel but sweet Gregory was the one I fell for.

One thing I loved straight away in this book is the amount of shifters here - and it's not always cats or wolves! Scenting their mate is a big thing in most paranormal books but in this one, because Gregory is a water shifter, for him it's the sound of Daniel's voice. I loved that!!! The oh-so-simple idea that different shifters have different ways of knowing their mates. 😍

I don't know who's story is coming next but I can't wait for Winston and Henri's! If you love Omegavers stories and like a sweet, slow-burner then I have no hesitation in recommending this one!
