Katie Niles (20 KP) rated Netflix in Apps
Jun 15, 2018
Nifty Netflix.
My Netflix experience has been so good, we shut our cable off and use Netflix and Amazon as our source of entertainment. I love the fact that I can binge watch different types of genres when it comes to tv shows. The movie selection is very wide span as well and my only complaint is there is entirely too many b- rated horror flicks. Otherwise I have nothing but good to say about Netflix. The app is on my phone as well for any on the go entertainment I need while running on the treadmill or sitting in a doctors waiting room. Thumbs up to Netflix.
I own Minecraft for many platforms, and while I love it, I have to say that the console versions are easier to manage. That being said, there's nothing quite like being able to mine for diamonds, work on crafting, or attempt to dodge the (potentially) lethal creepers on the go! For a while I was frustrated because the mobile version was so far behind other platforms (including even the Amazon app, and that's saying something!), but that error seems to be resolving itself these days. I am happy to see it making progress!
I haven't tried buying any skins yet, but as it is available on other platforms I assume it is available through the mobile app.
All in all, a fun game that is a little hampered by screen size, but definitely worth playing.

Sarah (126 KP) rated I Will Never Leave You in Books

I selected this book as one of my Amazon Kindle First Reads selections. It seemed like it could be a great read, with so much potential for suspense, intrigue and excitement. Instead, there was unnecessary exposition, sub-plots which were of no consequence to the story and characters with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. In what appeared to be an attempt to bring the tale to a conclusion, the actions of the characters swiftly moved from those of people desperate to resolve their situations to just plain ridiculous.
This appears to be part of a planned two-part series, with a second novel 'Before I Forget You' planned for 2019. With the seemingly half-hearted ending to this novel, I certainly wont be rushing to read the follow up.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan- Season 1 in TV
Sep 7, 2018
I watched all 8 episodes in one sitting, which is something I rarely do. I was super pumped to see Jack Ryan on screen.
I liked how they modernized it, and the story was all new. Well, as new as the standard foil a terrorist plot. Of course, if you've seen/read anything about Jack Ryan, you know certain characters are bound to show up... e.g., Cathy.
The last episode was definitely fan-fare, and riffed off all of the previous films.
I'm just not sure I'm sold on Krasinski as Ryan. I thought he did a better job than Alec Baldwin and Ben Affleck, but definitely wasn't as good as Harrison Ford.
I'm just glad Amazon is going ahead with a second season.

MoMoBookDiary (20 KP) rated 13 Little Blue Envelopes (Little Blue Envelope, #1) in Books
Oct 1, 2018
13 Little Blue Envelopes was a delightful read. The author knows how to keep you hooked with short easy-to-read chapters and I found myself reading a chapter every chance I got!
It had me hooked from the first envelope and read the book over a couple of days - only to find there is a follow-on novel out too!
I was luck enough to get this as a free book on Amazon kindle which is a fantastic way of discovering new authors. The book is aimed at teenage/young adult but I would recommend it for any age group.
MoMo’s Book Diary loved this delightful novel and recommends 13 Little Blue Envelopes as a 4 star read. (read May 2011)

Dork_knight74 (881 KP) rated Venom (2018) in Movies
Nov 27, 2018
Mixed emotions
I recently got an Amazon firestick and caught this movie that way. The acting, cinematography and effects were good but the story was a little disappointing. It completely altered the origins of Venom. Being a comic fan, that didn't go unnoticed. It would have been fine if the whole movie wasn't based on a character from the comics. If I didn't know who Venom was and the characters involved, I'd give this a better rating. However, this is a popular iconic character from the Spiderman lore and doesn't even mention the webslinger or take place in the same city. If you don't care about all that, but like adventure movies, you'll still enjoy this one. Not the greatest comic book movie adaptation, but still an entertaining movie. Worth a watch.
Kate (355 KP) rated Supernatural - Season 2 in TV
Jan 30, 2019
Have just (well a few weeks ago) found this on Amazon Prime and remember watching the first series many years ago on TV but not being able to watch any more due to it going onto Sky. Currently working my way through all the episodes and yes it is quite outdated these days but still just as full of supernatural beings and the trouble they cause. It can be a bit gory in places but still worth watching. Not sure how they string it out to several series but we will see when I get further on. My son has never watched it but had heard of the Winchester Brothers (the main characters) as they have a huge fan base amongst teenage girls and his friends don't stop talking about them.
