Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Into the Hurricane in Books
Jan 12, 2018
This was a very goodcoming of age novel that pitted two teenagers not only againsttheir own anger, guilt and depression but also a hurricane. These two strangers reluctantly at first team up to help each other and in the process find themselves again.
Connelly did a good job of setting the scene and showing us what was inside the characters minds. As a reader you got to see them evolve and grow. It created fairly complex characters. It was a quick and enjoyable read.

Sarah Betts (103 KP) rated Gravemaidens (Gravemaidens, #1) in Books
Dec 30, 2019
I received this copy of Gravemaidens from Delacorte Press through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fascinating fantasy with a character who think she's a lot smarter than she really is.
I'm not sure if that's intentional or not so that may not be an actual complaint.
Kammani's bitterness about the society she lives in is justified and her anger provides most of the books fuel.
I really did like this book and I'm excited to see where the second one takes us!

Acting is Top Notch
Peter Jackson you beautiful man.
Nothing bad to say, it's a long film but doesn't feel long enough it's that good.
One little tidbit incase anyone doesn't know, there is a scene where Aragon kicks a helmet in anger. This reaction is actually real, as he kicked it he broke bones! Not only did he injure himself, he kept in character and that take was used in the final cut!

Kristina (502 KP) rated The Fallen: Genesis (Deadly Virtues, #0.5) in Books
Dec 7, 2020
I tried to read Raphael and was instructed to read this book first, so like a good little Bookworm, I did. I understand reading this novella would help me understand the back story and help me sympathize with the Fallen - which I do, as crazy as that sounds, but how can one not after all the things these boys have been through? Though I kind of trudged through it, despite the heartache and anger at their torture, I'm looking forward to seeing what Raphael has in store.
Carleane Tang (791 KP) rated Tell 'Em Steve-Dave in Podcasts

This is hillarious. If your a fan of Impractical Jokers, Comic Book Men or just life in general then you need to listen to this. The fact that it's been running for nearly 10 years now credits the guys on their ability and enthusiasm for what they do. Even when they have things happening in their personal life they still manage to deliver their blend of uncensored humour, quirkyness and anger.
Be warned you need a sense of humour and ability to not get offended to listen

Rolling Stone's 435th greatest album of all time
I think this is my favourite Nirvana album. There is so much rawness to the sound and the lyrics and, with the backdrop of Geffen wanting a commercial success to follow Nevermind's , it is an incredibly brave album to have made. Cobain said at the time he made an album that he would want to listen to and that is exactly what this is. So much frustrated anger and so many brilliant songs and a fairly diverse sound.
