"The other one that I did not talk about at the time, that’s also among the movies that I can replay over and over because it supports me, is The Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome by Kenneth Anger that he shot after trying LSD with Aldous Huxley in Paris. It’s the first, and one of the most psychotic movies ever, and it’s just a movie that puts you in a different state of mind. The movie itself is like a drug to the viewer, and it’s not narrative. And there’s not many movies that are trips, shamanic trips; this is an absolute shamanic trip from beginning to end."

"Of all the great (but few and far between) movies that truly capture the confusion, misplaced energy and anger of one’s teenage years, this, to me, is the best. At least the closest to nailing what I was feeling at that age. Even though it takes place decades before I was that age and in a country that is 4,000 miles away. There isn’t a false note in the whole movie. And it’s driven by one of my favorite albums of all time, of course The Who’s, Quadrophenia, which explores all those themes and more. And Phil Daniels does a supreme job at conveying all of those missed emotions."

I don't even know what to say. Victoria's got me in a book funk! I had so many mixed emotions while reading this, I honestly didn't know what to feel. I can tell you that sadness and anger were the 2 prominent emotions. Part of me feels bad for Mare, but a part of me just wants to knock her upside the head and put some sense into her. She's so bitter and cold - honestly, I hate to say it, but I don't think I'd be upset if there isn't an HEA... I believe she's too traumatized to actually live a full life if she even survives.
