This kept me interested without being overly engrossing. I wanted to know what was going to happen next, but I wasn't necessarily desperate to get back to reading.
The Chain, as an idea, is terrifyingly smart. Obviously to actually be a part of such a thing would be terrible, but the fact is, this organization worked for its purpose. There wasn't a whole lot of surprises or unexpected events; no gasping out loud or expressions of shock. Mostly, there was the feeling of anger, fear, and uncertainty. You can't read this and condemn Rachel for her choices - because what would you do?
That, perhaps, is the main purpose of this book. Love can make you do all kinds of things: stupid things, silly things, good things, and even bad - horrible - things. The Chain makes you think about your morals. And a book that makes you think twice about your own beliefs is worth the read.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)
2017 | Comedy, Crime, Drama
When the police have got nowhere trying to find her daughter's killer, she takes matters into her own hands. Renting out three billboards on a barely used road to town, she plasters her simple question for anyone to see. "How come?"

This was a wonderful start to my 2018 cinema going. It's not often that I say I agree with award winners (especially after La La Land) but this one really did deserve it's Golden Globes.

The star in this one for me was Woody Harrelson. He's aged like a fine wine. I wasn't a massive fan previously, but after War For The Planet Of The Apes, and now this, I can't wait to see what else is to come from him.

Three Billboards in an emotional journey, and captures the way a whole community is affected by what happens inside their borders. It expresses the pain, anger and sadness so well, it was a riveting watch.
