David McK (3425 KP) rated Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) in Movies
Mar 23, 2024
"...and why should they listen to you?" / "Because, unlike certain other Robins, I can speak with an English accent!"
Mel Brooks 1993 spoof, that takes aim primarily at the Kevin Costner 1991 'Prince of Thieves' version, with bits of the classic 1938 film thrown in as well as the Disney animated version.
Not as funny as I remember it being, unfortunately, with some questionable acting and the 4th wall breaking bits not really adding anything to the mix.
YMMV, of course!

LeftSideCut (3778 KP) rated Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020) in Movies

The DC Animated movies are a mixed bags. There are some great ones, and a whole bunch of not so great ones. The top of the pile for me has always been the 2-part adaption of The Dark Knight Returns, until now that is.
Apokolips War is the final movie in the 16-part connected DC Animated Movie Universe, which started back in 2013 with The Flashpoint Paradox, and as a culmination of this particular storyline, it's near perfect.
In terms of plot, things are batshit insane from the get go - notable heroes are slaughtered as Darkseid lays waste to Earth, leaving a broken and small crew left to hold the fort and try and claw a win from a seemingly desperate situation. Everyone gets involved - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Etrigan, Shazam, Martian Manhunter, Raven, the whole Suicide Squad roster, just to name a few, and with all these heavy hitters in tow, it's an absolute pleasure to have Constantine at the forefront of it all, once again voiced by the fantastic Matt Ryan.
He's joined by the likes of Rosario Dawson, Tony Todd, Rebecca Romijn, Jerry O'Connell, Taissa Farmiga, Jason O'Mara, Camilla Ludington, John DiMaggio - it's a stacked voice cast to say the least.
The animation is wonderful, the action is non-stop and brutal, gritty yet smooth - it just feels like the creative team on this one pulled out all the stops to make sure the DCAMU finished with and Avengers Endgame sized flex.
It knocks spots off the first Justice League Dark entry and is ultimately my pick for the finest animated DC feature out there.

Suswatibasu (1701 KP) rated Sausage Party (2016) in Movies
Oct 10, 2017
Mildly disturbing, beyond crude
There are very few films out there where the cringe factor outstrips the comedy, but this definitely hits it. While I was mildly impressed by its all star cast (Edward Norton, Salma Hayek, Kristin Wiig, Seth Rogen), I was also slightly distressed by its ridiculous storyline, especially the last Sausage Party scene - which says it all. The language and content goes beyond South Park levels of inappropriate. Expect sexism, racism, rampant sex scenes, and drug use - in animated form. It's definitely not Disney.

A great entry to the Transformers franchise
I didn't check reviews before seeing this after the last 2 Transformers films got panned. So it was an even more pleasant surprise how much fun this was. A lot more in tune with the first Transformers film. I like the fact the Transformers looked a lot more like the animated and toy versions of the 80's. Another good performance from Hailee Steinfield and a great 80's soundtrack made this a blast!

Watched last night it's okay I liked it alot I remember when the graphic novel came out what if superman was raised in Russia and become a communist version of superman which I thought was a good concept for a comic book Now I've watched the animated movie it's just as I pictured it to be I liked the way the story took characters like bat man wonder woman and slightly change them to what were used to from them overall not bad movie

Great soundtrack
Amazing Spider-Man animation
A great bright, colourful and technical amazing animation film. It's hard to describe the style, quite often a mix, but almost like a 3D comic book at times. The story is good and suits an animated film better and the voice cast is very well chosen. Along with a great soundtrack and plenty of funny moments. I can imagine more films in future taking this visual approach.
Absolutely awesome, go check it out! Currently on Netflix.
