Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Ice Age (2002) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
Animated films, I feel, do snow a lot better than the majority of live-action movies. Why? Well it’s much easier to render snow when you’re creating a film that is solely CGI, you don’t need to worry too much about realism or shooting on location.
Ice Age remains one of the all-time greats of the genre, and in my opinion, it’s a little underrated. It’s spawned numerous decent quality sequels and has a cracking cast and a light, witty script that’s perfect for adults and children alike to enjoy. The snow is part and parcel of the movie, so that’s why it avalanches its way to number four in this list. Get it, avalanches? I’m on a roll.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Peter Rabbit (2018) in Movies
Mar 19, 2018 (Updated Mar 23, 2018)
Almost wholly ghastly bastardisation of Beatrix Potter's charming, gentle tales. Starts off with Peter Rabbit essentially killing Mr McGregor (not before contemplating sticking a carrot up his rectum) and goes on from there. 'Hilarious' jokes about Asbestos poisoning and anaphylactic shock ensue, plus a sight gag where Mrs Tiggy-Winkle walks into an electric fence.
Made all the more indefensible by a lovely fully-animated segment which completely captures the style of the original stories. Film-makers clearly not interested in that, though: not nearly 'contemporary' or 'irreverent' enough for them. Often resembles a mean-spirited parody of Beatrix Potter, twisted so it can make knowing jokes about rom-coms and so on. Very nearly completely horrible; scrapes one point for the animation sequence, another for Rose Byrne (what can I say, I'm sentimental).

___ 3 'Creepy' Stars
I'm going to be totally honest here...if I was just rating Coraline then I probably would of given this book 5 Stars as I enjoyed that story very much. It was creepy, atmospheric, well written and I really liked the artwork. I adored the animated film but have only now gotten around to reading the story that inspired its making. I just knew I was going to love reading the original story.
What let this book down, in my opinion, was all of the other short stories that followed. I enjoyed maybe 2 other stories but when reading the rest I was looking forward to finally finishing the book. For this reason I had to knock off 2 stars...but Coraline really was great.

Bad
This movie was hard to get through. It's a revenge movie that takes place in the eighties(ok), was made within the last year(it's 2018!), but everything about it screams 70s. The acting(so bad), cinematography, the storyline. Even the animated sequences. It had some violent scenes that looked straight out of a 70s movie as well. I don't expect perfection, but it's 2018, even a low budget film can be done well. They tried to use lighting effects to make it seem more "visual", but again, felt straight out of a 70s flick. The soundtrack was decent enough... for a 70s horror film. Anyway, I guess I just expect(hope for?) better from a movie these days. Sorry, this inne is not worth a watch.
Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated Robin Hood (Disney) (1973) in Movies

The Legend
Robin Hood- rewatching this movie, i loved it. I love the charcters, the plot, the music, everything about it i love it. The action, the comedy, the adventure, the suspense, the thrills, so excellent, so great.
The Plot: An amiable rooster called Alan-a-Dale (Roger Miller) tells stories and sings songs of the heroic Robin Hood (Brian Bedford) and his trusty sidekick, Little John (Phil Harris), in this animated animal-themed adaptation of the legendary story. When evil Prince John (Peter Ustinov) deputizes the Sheriff of Nottingham (Pat Buttram) to collect unreasonable taxes from the animals of Sherwood Forest, Robin, Little John and the other merry men wage a lighthearted battle against their evil foes.
Such a classic, if you havent watch it, then go and watch it.

David McK (3425 KP) rated The Addams Family (2019) in Movies

Altogether now:
"They're creepy and they're kooky
Mysterious and spooky
They're all together ooky
The Addams family …"
It's now over 20 years since the Addams Family last big-screen outing (in 1993), itself only 2 years after their previous outing in '91.
That means that there is an entrie generation that hasn't seen the Addams Family on the big screen: something that this (animated) film attempts to put right.
And, to damn somewhat with faint praise: this is OK, but doesn't do enough (in my opinion) to really stand out from the crowd, to really be all that memorable: there's no equivalent, say of Wednesday Addams creepy smile ("Stop it! She's scaring me!") in The Addams Family Values, say, or even of the amnesiac Lloyd Fester in the original.

Different Tale: Mother Knows Best
Tangled- is a great and fantasic movie with good songs like.."When Will My Life Begin", "Mother Knows Best", "I've Got A Dream", "I See The Lignt", and "Healing Incantation".
The plot: Disney animation of a classic tale. Beautiful princess Rapunzel has been locked away in a tower since she was captured as a baby by an old hag. Her magical long blonde hair has the power to provide eternal youth, and the evil Gothel uses this power to keep her young. At the age of 18, Rapunzel becomes curious about the outside world, and when a prince uses her tower as a refuge, she asks him to help her escape.
It has action, adventure, lots of comedy, darkness, so basically a normal disney animated movie.
