Story
The most tedious entry to the Star Wars canon.
When I heard about this book I was fascinated to know she went from Queen Amidala to Senator Amidala, and what happened following The Phantom Menace. Turns out, not much.

All of this can be read on the blurb: basically her royal predecessor asked her to. That was basically it.

The book answers these questions rather pointlessly, and describes her relationship with her handmaidens. The book can therefore be summarised in a single sentence: She was very close with her royal handmaidens, and the next Queen asks her to be senator.

The book is incredibly slow, to the point you can no longer be bothered and just want to skip to the next part of the Star Wars canon, a few Age of Republic comics, which are shorter, but far more fun.

It's single redeeming feature is the inclusion of Captain Panaka, the character portrayed by Hugh Quarshie in the prequel trilogy, a rather underrated and underused character.

Cody and Meg were inseparable, they knew each other inside out. But how well did Cody really know Meg? And what happens when your best friend leaves you behind?
Cody searches desperately for answers to why Meg would take her own life. Surely she could never do that?
I have been looking forward to reading this book for a long time and was really excited to finally start it. Usually I would only take a couple of days to read a book like this, but I took a lot longer than that for me.
I think this is an amazing idea for a book but something about the way it was written put me off. About halfway through I started to enjoy it more but that quickly faded away. I’m usually disappointed by endings but I was more disappointed by this one than I usually am.
I felt this book was quite boring and badly written. I wish I could say I had enjoyed it, but I can’t.

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.

Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now…private investigator. Sort of.
Needing someone he can trust, her father sends her undercover to Nocturne Falls to find out why employees at the Santa’s Workshop toy store are going missing.
Doing that requires getting to know the town, which leads to interesting encounters with a sexy vampire, an old flame, and an elevator that’s strictly off-limits. The more Jayne finds out, the more questions she has, but the answers lead her deeper into danger.
Will her magic save her? Or will she come up cold?

First of all I don't think I've read anything like this ever! I found it so bizarre at first I really couldn't get my head round Jack frost and uncle Kris 🤣. But once into it I loved it! I think Jayne is brilliant! The whole idea was so refreshing I definitely need to start the Nocturne series too!
