Reign of Mist ( The Oremere Chronicles book 2)
By Helen Scheuerer

The realm's darkest secret is out.

The cruelty of the capital and the power-hungry King Arden have scattered Bleak and her companions across the continents.

On the run in a foreign land, Bleak finds herself tied to some unexpected strangers. When the answers she yearns for are finally within reach, she must face the hard truths of her past and take her fate into her own hands before it's too late.

Meanwhile, secrets and magic unravel as a dark power corrupts the realm. Bleak's friends are forced to decide where their loyalties lie, and who, if anyone, they can trust.

But one thing is certain: War is coming, and they must all be ready when it does.

This is the second book of this is series and it was brilliant I really enjoyed it. The characters have evolved so much and taking on their own trials aswell as coming together when needed. There were a few litte shockers in there too which I won’t spoil! Recommend!

Under the Skin (2014)
Under the Skin (2014)
2014 | Sci-Fi
The closest we may ever get to a Biker Mice From Mars movie...

In all seriousness, Under the Skin is quite an experience. It's a film that leaves more questions than it answers, and is purposefully provocative in it's desire to explain a damned thing.
It has a jarring mixture of styles, alternating between almost amateur/hidden camera shots and visually stunning moments on a whim. It has plenty of beautiful vistas, and plenty of simplistic yet surreal moments when things get a little extra-terrestrial.

Scarlett Johansson puts in a solid performance as the mysterious being, managing to come off dangerous and vulnerable all at the same time, certainly sympathetic for a creature the audience know very little about. The climax of the film is hard to watch, and highlights the ugliness of the human race effectively, and the entire film is backed by an incredible music score.

I'm not going to pretend I fully understood Under the Skin, but it's truly otherworldly whilst feeling grounded in its Glasgow setting. A genuinely uncomfortable yet beautiful experience.

**I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review**

So this one follows Erin, the old sister of the two, and how she follows her sister, Tess, across the country worrying her sister may have gone a little mad, wanting to marry a man she's known for such a short time.

Erin is fiery and doesn't mess around with words. She tells people what she thinks and wants and has never met anyone who stands up to her. Until she meets Seth. He knocks her down a few pegs with his flirty attitude and she finds herself wanting him, almost as much as he seems to want her, but she holds back.

I have to say I liked Seth, he's sort of gentle in his seduction of her. He doesn't push her into anything but he wants answers as to why she keeps turning him down when he realises there's a definite reason behind it.

It was a sweet story of overcoming fears and finding yourself again after suffering at the hands of someone else.

Technically my mum won a copy of this book via Goodreads' Giveaways/First Reads program, but since she doesn't write reviews and I do, I'll read it too.

------------------------------------------------------------

3.5 stars.

So, I've read it. And though it isn't my usual genre--I like to mix it up every so often--I must admit I got quite into it. I wanted to know what happened that night; what secret were the mum and daughter keeping? Was it really that bad? Who was this guy scaring them?

Now that I've read it, I've gotten answers to all of the above and strangely enough; I kind of feel it was justified. How Louise and Brooke went about it was just all wrong on many levels, especially what Louise did. I was extremely put off by that.

Some of the other stuff put me off as well. What was with Michael?

As I mentioned above, this isn't my usual genre but for a first book--going via createspace for paperbacks--this is a pretty good book.

Betrayal has forced us on the run. Evading the very man I considered my family, the organization I once considered good. In hiding, I need to master my new power and find peace with my bonded guardian--or risk exposure.

But my heart can't accept the events that led us here. I need answers. Closure.

An olive branch is offered and another trap is sprung. While my relationships grow stronger by the day, new tensions arise and ghosts of my past appear. But can anyone be trusted?

I'm Kit Davenport and I didn't see that one coming.

Another brilliant chapter in Kit journey! I absolutely adore Wesley and am not at all happy with how this book ended I'm a little worried for him! I'm not convinced Kits mother is all sweetness and light after all these years either! Oh I just love this girl and her men!! Lots of action in and out of the bedroom all so well written!! I can even bare to pick up book 5 yet and how adorable is ssssaaaammmmm .
