Just when I think things are starting to look up...I manage to get myself kidnapped.

All I want to do is figure out how the hell to get home. But instead, I’ve been shot out of the sky, netted, half drowned, and now I’ve been taken to Kestrel City, home of the Avowed.

The Hidden claim the Avowed are the enemy, but I’m about to learn nothing is ever just black and white.
Well, except maybe for my gryphon.

I need to keep Pigeon and her wandering eye on a tight leash. Which is a hell of a lot easier said than done. She has an appetite for assholes and secrets, and there’s plenty of both flying around here.

Can I keep my head down, my wings folded, and Pigeon in check long enough to find the answers I’ve been looking for?

I sure as fuck hope so, but it’s not looking so good.

Well holy cow that was a bit good! I absolutely love her conversations with Pidge they just lift the whole book. I’m really enjoying Ivy’s work and can’t wait to keep reading more. I will say I think my heart was in my mouth the last two chapters!

This book starts off with a contemporary feel - Moira is a teenage girl trying to get through High School after having two near-death experiences. Everyone else who was with her at the time died, but for some reason, she survived. All that changes one night when someone breaks into her home and attacks her. Thinking that third time lucky for death to come and collect her, instead, she is saved by two winged people, twins who seem to know about her.

This is where the Fantasy part of the novel kicks in as you have good vs. evil, betrayal, the old Gods and new powers and abilities.

There are crossovers between this book and The Immortals which made it interesting. However, I personally found it a tad distracting as my mind would flit back to the other book when a reference was made, but that's just me.

This was well-written and enjoyable. The 'fun' hasn't ended here though, for all that Moira has some of her answers. There is more to come from her, Bel, and Airi and I, for one, am looking forward to reading more about them.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Deep Blue Secrets ( The Water Keepers book 1)
By Christie Anderson

California teen Sadie James thinks her life couldn't get any better. She has great friends, an energetic mother she adores, and the beach practically in her own backyard. But her carefree life is turned upside down when she's rescued by a mysterious and strangely familiar boy who won't even tell her his name. Each time the boy appears, Sadie's unexplainable attraction to him deepens along with her need to unravel his secrets. The boy is there to protect her. But as wonderful and exciting as it might be to have an irresistible boy with crystal green eyes protecting her every move, every minute of the day . . . why does Sadie need one? As Sadie finds answers, she realizes her life isn't as perfect as she thought. Not only is she caught in a world of dangerous secret agents she never knew existed, but it turns out her true identity may be the greatest secret of all.

So I was in between a 3.5 and 4 stars for this. For a young adult it was well written flowed really nicely and had a new story to spin. The concept was really interesting and I’m looking forward to reading more. It was an easy enjoyable read also a new author for me.

What happens when your past catches up to you?

We found the Salvaged Lands and were welcomed into this secret sanctuary. Inside we find survivors, some comforts, and people who bring us more questions than answers.

With this new adventure, comes a new threat. We can no longer trust some of the new friends we've made.

The list of strange things going on is growing longer. My guys are developing more powers, and now I’m becoming afraid to touch them, in fear I may inadvertently turn them into rotters instead.

I don’t know the full potential of what I can do. I don’t know if I’m technically even human.

But what I do know, is:

1) There are more dangers in this world than I originally thought, and

2) If you don’t fight, you die.

I liked it but didn’t love it! The character building is really good. The story is developing well I’m enjoying this series and this one was slightly better than book 2. The powers and the small explanations we are getting is really well done. Besides all this I think it was lacking that spark. Mateo is starting to rile me a little but overall it’s a good book .

**BOOK SYNOPSIS**
On the family’s Brazos River Ranch in Texas, Avery Elliott helps run her grandfather’s commercial construction business. Raised by Senator Elliott, Avery has never doubted her grandfather is the man of integrity and faith she’s always believed him to be …. until the day she finds him standing with a gun over the body of a dead man. To make matters worse, Avery’ just discovered a billing discrepancy for materials supposedly purchased for construction of the Lago de Cobre Dam.

Desperate for answers, Avery contacts FBI Special Agent Marc Wilkins for help. As Marc works to identify the dead man Avery saw, threats toward Avery create a fresh sense of urgency to pinpoint why someone wants to silence her. With a hurricane approaching the Texas coast and the structural integrity of the Lago de Cobre Dam called into question, time is running out to get to the bottom of a sinister plot that could be endangering the lives of not only Avery and her loved ones but the entire community.
