This was an interesting book that ties in heavily to the Arthurian legends I have been reading all throughout this quarter. While I enjoyed it for the most part, it was quite slow in places. That being said, it was masterfully done. I loved all the allusions to the Arthurian romances, especially the introduction of Gawain and the ties into Beowulf throughout that scene. Ishiguro did an excellent job, it just wasn't fully my cup of tea.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This is an enchanting brilliant reworking of Arthurian legend. I cannot wait to read what happens next.

Interesting modern take on the Arthurian legend that everyone knows. The only problem I had was that the "twist" was so predictable. Somebody told me the rest of the series was in graphic novel format.

I very much enjoyed this novel. Not only do I love Arthurian tales, I love ones with weird storylines. I really like how this was written by some unknown guy and was only recently rediscovered. (well recent-ish). This translation is great because it has the crazy Middle English along with the modern English translation on facing pages. This makes it easier to use both wordings to analyze. If you enjoy reading romantic/Arthurian stories, pick this one up! I am really glad I had to read this for one of my classes!

I'm struggling between giving this a 6 or a 7. I settled on 7 because it's not necessarily entertaining, but 100% thought provoking. Some of the metaphorical journeys were difficult to unravel, but the allegorical shaping of the tale set in post Arthurian England was intriguing. I found that once I started the novel, I had to find out how it ended no matter what.

Camelot retelling
Guinevere is meeting king Arthur for the first time so they can be wed. Camelot has banned all magic, which Guinevere is skilled in.
I loved the authors twists on the classic arthurian ledgends. The big plot twist has me desperate for the next book.
