Loved Everything About This Book!
This book lived up to the hype that had surrounded it and I was not disappointed. It is 80s pop culture, meets video games, meets a dystopian world in the most perfect of ways. The best part is, it doesn't matter if you don't know too much about each of the topic because it all gets explained or you're too into the story to mind. This was one of the first books that I listened to as an audio book and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so, that I now want to go and buy the actual book so I can go and read it for myself. Couldn't recommend it enough.

The premise
Da Vinci Code remains his best work, but I'd place this above his others.
This is a good solid thriller, with great use of personal moments and fears. This doesn't have the sheer puzzling out of symbols that Da Vinci Code had. But it's much better than Angels and demons. Spain is an interesting location, and the bilbao museum is a great setting to start the chase in. Some of his descriptions of the settings go on and on, which can be great if you've never seen them, or visited personally. But they also tend to drag the book a bit. Still, it's worth reading, and makes a good solid audio book which is how I read it... on my commute

This is a fine debut novel from the TV host. A body is unearthed in a small Irish village and PJ Collins, the local policeman, must dig through the characters’ past to find the killer. This is an exciting plot set against the humdrum of village life. The characters are believable in their mundanity, the tone of their conversation, peppered with occasional profanity, secrets and gossip, is a joy to read. The story is told with observational wit and flair but doesn’t rely too much on overplaying the Irish accent when reading. If you’re a fan of the author, I highly recommend listening to the audio version that’s available as Norton’s narration brings the characters to life, full of lilt and accent.

Unusual story
All the love for this audible release. This really is the best encapsulated, standalone romance I’ve read in an age. It’s an unusual story which is part of the strength because unlike most romance, it wasn’t a familiar storyline. The characters are equal measures of feisty, stubborn, loyal and caring and I loved them both very quickly. There's a great suspense element in this book two but it doesn't overpower.

I am a fan of kylie Scott but there was just something about how she wrote the heat in this book that was fantastic. Her plain use of vocabulary made everything come alive, if you catch my drift. Go listen the heck of Andi Arndt doing her thing on this audio.

This rating is of the audio book narrated by Wil Wheaton.

I only played one MMORPG seriously (Guild Wars, I'm looking at you!), and it consumed my life for a good year or so. This is important - all sorts of games are mentioned in Ready Player One, but it takes place within an MMO, and I'd wager that experience with MMOs will vastly increase your enjoyment of this book. It brought back all my fondest memories of gaming culture. It wasn't the most complex story of all time, but it did constantly manage to remind me of how much I loved hanging out with friends, arguing about games, and competing to see who truly had the best grasp of combat mechanics in super smash bros.

This is a collection of short stories that have been crafted by the Oscar winning Mr Hanks over the past twenty years. Each story has a connection to one of those nostalgic machines, a typewriter. The style of prose is very Hanks, you can hear his voice in the expression of his characters. There is warmth, gentleness and an essence of reality that leads you to believe that, despite all his worldly success, Hanks remains grounded and likeable. Whilst this isn’t the best example of prose, it has a lot to offer, if you are a fan of Hanks then this is an insightful, pleasant read. I listened to some of the stories on audio and thoroughly enjoyed hearing them told by the man himself.

Superb as an Audio-book
A brilliantly narrated audiobook with a full cast creating an immersive experience. Listening to this came across as you would expect a very well produced radio documentary into the history of a significant band.

Following the rise and the split of a 70s band, we get multiple POVs from band members and those around them recounting the history of the band. It was all very believable, almost too much to the point that it was rather predictable because it so easily could be true. I’m not sure this would have done much for me if I’d read the book but it would of certainly of been a unique reading experience; I was easily caught up in the audiobook.

Greatest Hits by Laura Barnett was a fictional book about a band/ singer - I don’t know whether you’ve read it? A singer called Kathryn Williams recorded all the songs into an album with the authors blessing - the book was fantastic! It was about the rise of a band and their inevitable fall. Each chapter began with the lyrics of the song, and being the geek that I am, I listened to the song on Spotify 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

No I haven't read that, but it sounds like fun to be able to listen to the songs along the way 😊
