It took me nearly a year to finish the audiobook. Kamau is long-winded, pensive and thoughtful. What he is not, is always funny or engaging. Glad I finished it because I feel the world does need his point of view. I remain a semi fan.

After reading Interview with a Vampire over ten years ago, honestly, the last person I wanted to read a book about was that a**hole, Lestat. So, I put off reading it.
Well, I decided to try it, via audiobook, and Lestat is WAY more interesting than that whiny little b**** Louis. First, Simon Vance is an amazing narrator, and I highly recommend the audiobook.
Lestat's story is detailed and fascinating, starting out before he became a vampire, up to modern times, his rock-star period. Lestat is intelligent (majority of the time), a bit arrogant, and drama queen extreme. I loved every second of it.

After this book, Dan Jones is now one of my favorite history writers. If you listen to the audiobook, he's the narrator, and the dude has a nice voice. This book was a good, comprehensive look at the Templars, and gave a good overview of the Crusades in general.

Move it to the top of your to-read list
This book is a must read! Read or listen, move it to the top of your list. The audiobook narrator is also fantastic, which is a hard thing to find sometimes.
I definitely will be recommending it to others!!

I found this in the library, and I started listening to the audiobook, and after a few minutes I realized I knew the story. I'd seen the movie a few years back and it had stuck with me. It was like a modern-day Alice in Wonderland but more convicting.

I can see why this book gets challenged. Although up until the ending, there was only one mention of religion. What an interesting book. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook version read by the author. She knew what the characters sounded like and acted like. Added a dimension to the reading.

I'm not normally a short story reader. I chose this because I thought it would be a funny read that would work well as an audiobook. plus, I was swayed by the "guest" readers on the audiobook.
Not only did it make me laugh but it made me think! Some of the stories were very thought-provoking, which surprised me. I enjoyed it. A few of the stories dragged on and on. My favorites were those that came abruptly to an end. They made me laugh and pause to think, instead of spelling it all out.
I was not. B.J.Novak fan from television really so I wasn't predisposed to like this book. It was just enjoyable.
