Audiobook: Stephen Fry’s excellent book narrated expertly.
I love Stephen Fry’s voice, and he reads his book so well. There’s great detail and great story choices. I’m a big fan of Greek mythology anyway, ever since I was a child, and this is a superb way to revisit those stories. It’s a great selection, I really enjoyed his take on the stories and what he added to the dialogue of the Gods, Goddesses and unfortunate humans.

Set me on fire
I listened to this on audiobook for a solid week. It starts with a fire in Shaker Heights, a perfectly planned town, and then you see how we all got there. The narrative jumps all over the place, taking deep dives into the past and different character’s emotional states. Slowly forming a clear story from a life of secrets meant to be hidden. The characters struggle with big problems, and discover themselves along the way.

Penultimate book to an amazing series.
Well I am an avid Harry potter fan. I have read all the books too many times to count and have them on audiobook too. This is the second to last book in the series and is when this start getting more and more action filled as Voldemort is growing in power and Harry is starting to discover the horcruxes that he needs to distribute with the help do dumbledore and his friends.

Hmmm ... I'm not really sure what to say about this one.

I listened (rather than read) the audiobook version, so - mainly - had it on in the background, whilst doing other stuff.

That might say a lot about it (that I never really give it my full attention): on the other hand, there were some nuggets of information that I picked up whilst listening to it.

I'm not sure if I'll be looking for any other similar works.

I try to avoid book series like the plague (commitment issues). But here we are, and I’d like to start The Stranger Times Addiction Club. I listened to Love Will Tear Us Apart on audiobook, and the narrator Brendan McDonald has made me realise that I’ll probably need to buy all subsequent Stranger Times instalments on audiobook as well (except for the next one - I’ve already read that on NetGalley. Review to follow 🫢). Brendan, you are superb!

Bancroft thinks his wife is still alive and he’s acting very strangely; Hannah (assistant editor) has not only had the cheek to resign, but she’s gone to a spa as well; and an ex-columnist (who never strictly existed) has disappeared. Sounds confusing? Well, that’s The Stranger Times for you!

God, I enjoyed this - these books are always so uplifting (like some of the staff!), and I laughed so much. Which is ideal on your dog walk…

This is a series that I really don’t mind being caught up in at all. Just fabulous!

I wasn't expecting to like this book at all. I chose it on the fly to listen to as an audiobook. I was not disappointed. It was completely humorous. The novel rotated through three points of view, Edward VI, Lady Jane Grey, and Gifford Dudley. It definitely borrowed from the likes of the Princess Bride, Shakespeare, and Monty Python. There were some irritating parts, like when it quoted too much from those sources. In the end, I did really like it.

Very interesting, but complicated as audiobook
Listened on Audible.co.uk

You really need a lot of background information to make any sense of this. I feel this requires reading, scanning back and digesting the material because it's difficult to follow if you miss one small part. While it is important, I wish I had read this instead. Imagine listening to the Big Short. Very similar themes are raised, but including the tech side of how banks and investors manipulate the system.

This is another one of those books that I liked, but didn't finish for one reason or another. Right now in my life I've had to stop listening to the audiobook so many times that I don't remember names and what's going on. However I absolutely loved what I listened to. Hopefully the next time I go on a long car-trip i'll be able to focus on it and make some headway on it.
