Rose-Marie3071 (67 KP) rated Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in TV

Brillance
Contains spoilers, click to show
I love this anime!
It is a brilliant, well thought out, comprehensive series with no end of twists and turns in the plot. In comparison to the original Fullmetal Alchemist, The Brotherhood series follows the Manga and flows a lot better than the original.
The series both follow the tale of Edward and Alphonse Elric as the journey to find a way to recover their bodies, Brotherhood however, in my opinion, covers a more fluid storyline with less plot holes.
I have to admit though that one of my favourite scenes is during the Fifth Laboratory when 66/Barry the Chopper reacts to Alhponse's lack of body despite his own lack of one.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2352 KP) rated Boiled Over (A Maine Clambake Mystery, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Founder's Day Weekend gets off to a rough start when a body is found in the fire the Snowden Family Clambake was using to prepare a meal. With the police looking at one of their employees, Julia must dig in and find the real killer.
The story started out strongly and never faltered as it led me through several twists and turns. The characters were just as strong as in the debut, and I enjoyed spending time with all of them again.
Note: I was sent a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2352 KP) rated Quickstep to Murder (A Ballroom Dance Mystery #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Stacy is stuck with her ex-fiancee as a business partner because she can't afford to buy him out of their ballroom dance studio. However, when the police find his dead body in one of the rooms, they think Stacy killed him. Can she prove herself innocent?
I really liked the characters from the start, and the plot kept me engaged from beginning to the end. My only real complaint was that Stacy seemed to have a day with many more than 24 hours in it to do all she did plus solve the murder.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2352 KP) rated Blessed Is The Busybody (Ministry Is Murder Mystery,#1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Aggie tries to do her job of supporting her preacher husband and raise their daughters in the best way she can. Avoiding scandal is her number one priority. So why then, is there a naked dead woman on her front doorstep? The characters lept off the page at me as if I'd known them for a long time even though this is a series debut. The plot was fan moving and fun as well. My only issue? I don't agree with the character's theology, but I didn't expect to, and I devoured the entire series.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2352 KP) rated Mr. Monk Is Open For Business (Mr. Monk, #18) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Before Natalie and Monk can have an official grand opening for their new PI business, they wind up with two cases. First, there's the murder suspect who won't explain why he was moving a body in a vacant field. Then there's the mass shooter who vanished despite being surrounded by police.
Both of these mysteries are great and kept me engaged the entire way through. The characters and their growth are wonder as well, and the humor had me grinning when I wasn't outright laughing. Fans of the series will love it.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Body on the Bayou (Cajun Country Mystery, #2) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
As if being railroaded into playing wedding planner / mail of honor for her co-worker Vanessa isnt enough to worry about, Maggie also gets volunteered to put the bride-to-bes cousin up at her familys B&B. This seems ok at first, but before long Ginger starts showing her true colors, and someone decides to do her in just days before the wedding is scheduled to take place. After finding Gingers dead body, Maggie adds finding a murderer to her ever-growing to-do list.
This was a fun mystery with a great setting - I'll be watching for the next in the series.
NOTE: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy.

Anna Steele (111 KP) rated Scythe (Arc of a Scythe #1) in Books

Not feeling Deadish
I rarely give out 10/10 ratings
But Neal Shusterman deserves it
He has formed so many different worlds
Slightly different from our own
And wholely different from each other
He has brought me into Everlost
Shown me life after the Second Civil War
And now I have expirence a world
That has conquered mortality.
Two young people
Must learn how to kill people
The Sycthedom
Is the only political body standing
And it’s splitting
At its core
Massacrists
And compassionate killers
Must fight for the moral code
That will rule the only killers in the world.
This story is thrilling
And has left me not feeling so deadish.

Sarah (7800 KP) rated I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998) in Movies

An unnecessary sequel
As with all sequels, this one is pretty unnecessary. Whilst as sequels go it isn’t terrible, it just feels like it’s repeating the same old things over again, and not very well either. This film seems to have upped the ante on the gore and the body count, but it’s nowhere near as scary or creepy. It’s still quite entertaining and funny, it’s just not a patch on the original and the little twist at the end is a lame.
I’m shocked to see how many famous people are in this that I forgot about, namely Jack Black and Milton Dammers himself, Jeffrey Combs. Just a shame they couldn’t make this as good as the original.

Sophia (Bookwyrming Thoughts) (530 KP) rated The Rule of Mirrors (The Vault of Dreamers, #2) in Books
Jan 23, 2020
I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The second book in The Vault of Dreamers starts from the cliffhanger of sorts OBrien left off with, though I personally think The Vault of Dreamers should've been left alone as a stand-alone. This sequel might be a little disorienting at first, as Rosa is in another body and it takes awhile to figure out what was going on.

Vegas (725 KP) rated The Silent Patient in Books

The plot build up (1 more)
When it all comes together
One man's goal, to find out the truth when other specialsts can't... A woman who has remained silent, unable or unwilling to talk after being found over the dead body of her partner and sent to a hospital for mental health issues after being found guilty of his murder...
I read the second half of this book in one sitting after being gripped at one point mid way through and just couldn't put it down, wanting to know exactly what happened that fateful day.
The story does appear slightly fragmented at points BUT it all come together in the end and then you see why.
