Phillip McSween (751 KP) rated Ultraviolet (2006) in Movies

Begins Like it Ends: Terribly
A powerful woman fights to save a kid who was meant to die. I actually went to see Ultraviolet In theaters when it first came out with one of my closest friends. Sixteen minutes into the movie, he walked out to the screen next door to watch Dave Chappelle’s Block Party. Yes, it is that bad and, honestly, I’m surprised he even lasted that long. What’s my excuse? I don’t know, I’m guess I’m a glutton for bad-movie punishment. I paid the dime so I was forcing myself to do the time.
Acting: 0
Beginning: 3
No, it doesn’t take sixteen minutes to decide this movie is horrible. It’s really more like ten. The beginning sets the movie up in no particularly clever way. It explains the laughable Blood Wars and tries to get you to care about the main character. I’m currently watching it right now and the nose plugs alone are killing me. You’ll understand that reference if you decide to take the awful journey that is this movie.
Characters: 5
Cinematography/Visuals: 2
During the making of this, someone actually presented the idea, “So how cool would it be if the main character could change outfits on the spots like three times in every scene?” The worst part is, someone actually agreed with that dunderhead. The outfits are only a smidge of what makes the cinematics so bad. The special effects are a nightmare which bog down the actions scenes. The world itself is so cardboard that you feel like a backdrop will fall down at any moment. I really don’t know what the angle was here.
Conflict: 3
Every single bodyguard in this world should be fired. I really don’t think the main character gets touched the entire movie as she tears through people left and right. My annoyance level was through the roof with the weak action sequences from start to finish. They were focused too much on making things look cool than they were having actual scenes with meat.
Entertainment Value: 3
After you get done cringing at how bad this movie is, you will finally settle in. You might just have a laugh or two at how utterly ridiculous and stupid this movie is. That, to me, is worthy of a 3.
Memorability: 4
Pace: 3
At one point during the movie, when they had a chance to dive full into more action, they decide instead to have a sequence where the main character and the boy she is protecting stop to play at a playground. This should tell you all you need to know about how slow this movie moves. The fact that you really don’t understand what’s happening the entire movie only serves to make things even worse. Nightmare.
Plot: 5
I am being very generous. I will admit I do have a soft spot in my heart for sci-fi as I feel there are a lot of moving parts with character building and world creation. With Ultraviolet, it’s not just bad sci-fi, it’s bad PERIOD.
Resolution: 4
Overall: 32
I will leave you with this: Sitting through this movie will make you a dumber person. That is all.

Betty White is 96!
Sometimes you are just in the mood for a crocodiles eating people movie and not that stupid Sharknado crap. This movie actually has a great cast including Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman and Oliver Platt and has some genuine funny/scary moments.
You could do a lot worse in this genre with other lesser films.
I quite enjoy this one and HAPPY 96TH BIRTHDAY TO BETTY WHITE!

My five-year-old daughter will not sit still for a single thing and yet she plants herself on the ground when this movie is on and watches with rapt attention and tears glistening in her eyes; that is a better positive review than anything I can write. There is not a bad song in this movie and it will inspire you to hope for more, take risks, and reach for the stars.

Really? Another one?
So.... I loved the first film in this series "The Ultimate Gift". But this film is just bad. It tried to take the first one and copycat it without any of the drama, charisma or fun. This movie was boring. The main character was too nice and anything that he said to be mean felt out of character. The movie felt like a lazy cash grab.

Not bad
I'm a fan of Mark Wahlberg so I may be a little biased but this movie was pretty good. A little predictable but the acting was decent with both old and newer faces. The action was decent. There was bit of comic relief but mostly the story held a serious tone. Overall this movie is clean enough for the kids to watch(maybe not REAL young ones). If you enjoy "dirty cop" movies you'll enjoy this one. Worth a watch!

Watched today wanted to see what all the fuss is all about without giving too much away this is coming of age drama especially if you’re a teenager we’ve gone thru it me back in the 80s but at least I didn’t turn into a giant red panda. The animation is great especially on Mei as she turns into the panda overall decent movie for the kids some of its abit adult for youngsters but not bad movie

You don’t have to do this
First time seeing this movie been wanting to watch this for years never finding the time till now thru paramount plus. Anyway the film brilliant movie start to finish it feels like a western in a way with the hero the villain and the sheriff all play out some stolen drug money and there’s javier Bardem as the villain cold ruthless killer probably my favourite bad guy on film I’ve seen this year

Good Boy Gone Bad
The Hole in the Ground- is a suspenseful movie i give it that, otherwise its just anethor movie about a boy who you think is normal but in reality he's not. I do like the psychological espects in this movie, that it is a plus. Plus the creepyest, the suspense and the horror are all good.
The plot: One night, Sarah's young son disappears into the woods behind their rural home. When he returns, he looks the same, but his behavior grows increasingly disturbing. Sarah begins to believe that the boy who returned may not be her son at all.
Its a intresting take on a boy who seems normal but he's not. Cause like the plot details he gets lost and when he returns he doesn't seem normal, like a different person. Its a intresting movie, but i fell like i have seen this movie/plot before. Otherwise it is a good movie.

The storyline is held together nicely but one thing is a lot of going on (1 more)
The character development.
Good sequel
I went in with high expectations because of the first movie being very great. And this one the story was good. It just had a lot of different parts going on that became a little difficult to follow and a little out of pieces that had to fit together. I would suggest the movie and I think my problem was I just had really high expectations for it and then didn't meet those high expectations the way I thought it would. And that's the only thing I would say is not great about the movie.
