Lindsay (1706 KP) rated Wait...Wait for the Thunder in Books
Feb 15, 2018
This book is about Friendship. You also learn about ranching in that time. It about Luke and Ray and North Flat Ranch. There some Historical in the book.
It based on a true story with some fiction in it. I completley story. You learn somewhat what to do when in a thunderstorm. Though most of this book is about cattles and the lives of Luke McKeever and Ray. I really enjoyed this book and I was really would recommend it if you you enjoy Cowboys or Ranching and a bit of History.

Lindsay (1706 KP) rated The Question in Books
Aug 30, 2018 (Updated Apr 9, 2019)
The book gets you wondering about what is beyond the world we live in. It's based on if you or more than one person can create a unity. The author does a pretty good job with the events in the book. While I was reading the book. I felt like it was with the main people that were in the book. It seems like a replica of our congress and president a bit.
I do enjoy the plot of this book. It gets you involved making you start wondering along. There are examples of the projects throughout the book. Will terror win out or will the world win out? You will really need to find out by reading this book.
The book also keeps you guessing what the question would be asked. Why was some of the groups able to produce a unity and some did not? Nathan seems to want to find Unity.

Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated The Meg (2018) in Movies
Nov 1, 2021 (Updated Nov 3, 2021)
Now I have to say that I’ve been looking forward to seeing The Meg ever since I first saw the trailer a while back and at the time I had no idea that the movie was based on a series of books by Steve Alten, with this movie based on the first book, “MEG: A Novel of Deep Terror“, suffice to say I’ll be grabbing some of them to read very soon. Shark movies have become a little stale of the last few years and to be honest they have never thrilled me as much as Jaws, but The Meg certainly adds a whole new twist to the shark movie.

Alison Pink (7 KP) rated City of Whispers in Books

I won this book on First Reads. It took FOREVER to get it...over 2 months! Then I finally get it & start reading. That led to the 2nd disappointment, the book itself.
This is the first of the Sharon McCone series I've read. The characters (Sharon & Hy) are interesting, but the plot of the book itself left much to be desired. That was frustrating because Muller has a great voice in her writing, but it felt like not much happened. The "mystery" was fairly predictable. The only reason I was able to coax 3 stars out of it was due to the great writing style.
I don't know that I would seek out anymore of this author's books based on the mediocore plot alone.

Soundtrack
Fantastic!
When I found out this was coming out I knew I had to watch it. I previously read the book that this movie is based on. Alex Roe and Jessica Rothe were excellent choices for Liam and Josie. Forever My Girl is about returning home. I absolutely loved that the soundtrack consisted of country music.

Jessica Erdas (463 KP) rated You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) in Books
May 16, 2018
I loved absolutely everything about this memoir. Felicia Day perfectly bares her soul to anyone smart enough to pick up this treasure. At times raw and wildly hilarious, I've never related more to someone I've never met. Representation matters and I was more than happy to read this book based on Felicia alone but realizing early on that it catalogs a lot of her struggles with anxiety made it an even easier read. In many ways, this book shows just how down to earth and relatable Day is to the many people who love her and her work. I highly recommend giving You're Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) the chance it deserves and a place on your book shelf.

Feb 6, 2018
A very good action/thriller with a great cast and strong story based on a book about real SAS events in the 80's. Certainly a level above most of Jason Statham's recent action films which keep being churned out very often. If you like a bit of depth to back up the action this is the film for you.

Anne Still (2 KP) rated The Art of Asking: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help in Books
Apr 28, 2018
I actually won a copy of this when it came out.. I love her work, I love her personality.. This book goes beyond all of this...She talks about people's reluctance to ask for help, or think outside the box while keeping the tone on the level of a best friend. She talks about her life, her fans, and how she grew her work based on asking the fan base for help. Keeping the fan base as part of the process she has kept a very loyal following. There is a lot to be learned within the stories she shares and the reasons she added them to the book. Her writing is warm, and undeniably honest.

Interesting
A decent Netflix film part thriller mainly drama as a journalist for a New York based magazine is pursued for her account of an incidental that happened at her university years ago.
It's a good story based on a best selling book. Quite raw and gritty at times but also maybe has too many scenes around fitting in with the social elite and very rich. Didn't really deliver the ending it felt it was building up to.

Dean (6925 KP) rated Grantchester - Season 1 in TV
Aug 28, 2017
Good storylines (1 more)
Good actors
A well made series
I've seen this mentioned and the book it's based on getting high praise, so I thought I'd check it out. Someone said it was very Agatha Christie like, maybe in terms of the setting and characters. There is normally a murder to be solved but it normally relies on the main characters interaction with people, rather than any clues being unraveled. Still interesting nevertheless.
