Erika (17789 KP) rated Justice League (2017) in Movies

I've been a huge fan of the Justice League since I was a child, watching the old cartoons, so I was excited to see this. Bad stuff first: The CGI was whack. It also took them way too long the revive Superman (sorry not sorry, you can't have Justice League without Superman). The pacing was a little off too. I'm sure it was due to Whedon coming in at the last moment, but Snyder has been the problem in the DC universe. Hopefully they get a better director in there for the subsequent movies.
But, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and Aquaman saved it. I do like Ben Affleck as Batman, but something was off.

Another Great Movie From The DCEU
Wonder Woman is a great addition to the DCEU, I've loved every movie from the DCEU (Except Suicide Squad ?)
Man of Steel and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice are up there with my favourite superhero movies
Wonder Woman brings a lighter tone and more family friendly viewing to the DCEU,
The story was quite generic, the villain wasn't the best, but overall the movie was a visual treat
Gal Gadot and Chris Pines chemistry on the screen is enough to keep you watching, and the action sequences are superbly filmed
Overall this movie has pushed the DCEU in the right direction
Well worth the watch

This series is a decent attempt at chronicling the background, and current activities of one of the DC Universe's lesser known/adapted for the screen heroes - the Green Arrow. While it starts as quite a dark, Batman-esque vigilante, it soon develops into a more team-based, lighter-hearted series. I think part of this is to fit more naturally with the cheesy spandex of The Flash. Despite this, the character of Oliver Queen retains a dark streak and his actions are much more morally dubious, giving it an edge. The story flips between present day and the island Oliver was marooned on, where he learned the skills needed to become the Green Arrow.
There's little-to-no doubt that Margot Robbie's take on Harley Quinn was the best thing about 2016's Suicide Squad (and was also the first live-action portrayal of that character).
However, is she strong enough to headline a movie on her own?
Especially one also starring Ewan McGregor (clearly having a ball as) the villainous Black Mask?
I'm undecided.
It probably didn't help (also) that I'm more used to seeing Renee Montaya and Black Canary as portrayed in TVs (various) Arrowverse shows (Arrow, The Flash, legends of Tomorrow, etc) rather than as here, and that the film - while name-dropping both - has no place for either Batman or The Joker.

This movie is bonkers. History, costume and set design are just thrown to the wolves when it comes to any form if accuracy.
But the film was well paced, action packed and great fun. Like any Robin Hood folk tale should be. Granted, it would have been much better and probably better received if they had taken more care to stick to the time and place which it was set, but as it was, it was a work of pure fantasy.
As long you suspend your disbelief at the door and let this wash over you then you are in for great time. Simply enjoy.
