Just when I think things can’t get any worse...my ex shows up.
This is it. Our one chance to make it big in the Battle of the Bands. We have to win.
Except our bassist is missing. Guess who gets to track her down? That’s right, me. Because I’m the guy who’s always stuck fixing my band’s problems. And now my car won’t start. FML.
As if I’m not having a bad enough night, my ex-girlfriend Alexis shows up too. She offers to help me track down our rogue bassist, and with only hours before our band goes on stage, I can’t refuse.
I haven’t seen Alexis since high school, but now she’s back with a sexy new attitude and fiery red hair to match. She broke my heart once, but she’s not getting away this time.
Tonight I’m going to win—not just the Battle of the Bands, but the girl I never got over.
This is a standalone novella in the Chasing The Dream series, set a month before More Than Music.
It was good for what it was the start was a bit Ripley but it turned out ok in the end. This is a novella to a series so we will see how the rest of the books work out!

Excellent conclusion and the realisation of so much hard work in the previous 2 books. Excitement abounds as the story moves between siege and political manoeuvring in the capital and good old fashioned, sword swinging savage battle in the North as Logen looks to teach the king of the north a lesson.
The endings of each of the main characters are a little bitter-sweet as some much loved characters die, some are presumed dead and others end up miserable in a job they didn't want with next to no power/control.
Excellent story telling and world building and setting up the three follow on standalone books set in the same world.

Exquisite cinematography. (4 more)
Heartfelt and touching story.
The fact that this is Malik Vitthal's first feature film is amazing!
John Boyega's performance was irrefutably great.
Incredulous use of the 'golden hour' to maximize the lighting in an outdoor setting.
The story was built up highly only to end on a satisfactory level. (2 more)
The mise-en-scene could have been more detailed, although this could be seen as an artistic representation of the stripped and poor lifestyle that 'Bambi' is living.
The story and film had stale parts in it which made me lose interest, but this was outshone by the overall excellence of the majority of the film.
An ex-con's battle against crime.

Beautiful location (2 more)
Good Sfx
The Cgi for the Shark was great
A decent Shark thriller
A good film with a battle of wits and survival. The Beach location is beautiful, shot at Lord Howe Island off the coast of Australia, and the Sfx were good in most scenes. I was impressed with the Cgi for the Shark, it looked more realistic than many other Shark films over the past 20 years. It is one big mean Shark, although some of the action scenes are a bit over the top. Overall a good film for a simple premise. On the DVD you get extras on Shark attacks, the location for the Beach scenes, and how they designed the Shark.

Love it
Based on the manga "Gunnm", Alita: Battle Angel tells the story of a female cyborg. It takes place against a beautiful cyberpunk world called Iron City. It truly is a sight to see. But the true sight is Alita herself. She's beautifully animated & played excellently by Rosa Salazar. Chirstoph Walz was Christoph Walz. Actually, everyone was pretty good. The effects are phenomenal. The story is good as well, although there was no need for the love-story at all. It didn't move the story at all. I do hope there is a sequel made. Seeing this also makes me hopeful for a live-action version of Bubblegum Crisis in the future.

Nostalgia goes a long way
Starring:
Elizabeth Banks, Bill Cranston, Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin and Becky G.
Director: Dean Israelite
Plot: Five troubled teens get super powers. Join forces with an interdimensional being and living robot to battle an enemy called Rita
Result:
A huge amount of fun and nostalgia for those who grew up with the TV show.
Whilst the film overall is on the scale of "not as bad as you might expect," it is a tremendous amount of fun and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Low expectations and a disengaged brain will help a great deal with this.

Work can be killer
Starring:
John Gallagher, Goldwyn and Adria Arjona
Director: Greg McLean
Plot: 80 employees of Belko are locked in an office building. With instructions provided by a voice over the intercom, a game of death begins.
Result: This has a phenomenal 1st and 2nd act which pushes boundaries and raise great questions about the value of life and integrity. Tense and hugley entertaining. The third act starts the trend of generic survival horror but even then, it felt fresh and at no point was the film dull.
If you love Battle Royal or survival horror then this is an absolute must watch!

Awix (3310 KP) rated Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter (1974) in Movies
Feb 14, 2018 (Updated Feb 14, 2018)
Somewhat atypical late-period Hammer horror; feels a bit like a pilot for a TV show but is none the worse for that. Dope-smoking, katana-swinging action man Kronos does battle with a vampire that feeds off youth itself.
Works hard to avoid the usual clichés, with some great moments of black comedy along the way. References to other Hammer films from around the same time will please the faithful. Action choreography by doyen of swordmasters William Hobbs means that the fight sequences (especially the climactic duel) are considerably better than you'd expect from such a low-budget movie. Should have been the start of a series, but Hammer had run out of money.

This is the third book in the series about Freya and her sisters who have been turned into Frae by the cauldron as Freya and her mate and some friends continue their battle against the courts Lords to stop them destroying the human lands and being humans and Fae together. Freya discovers that destroying the cauldron doesn't stop the deaths and destruction happening and ends up forging the pieces back together. They lose their father in this part of the series though they find out that their father loves them even though they are now Fae. Not sure if there is going to be any more in the series. Very enjoyable YA book.

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I had a feeling it was aimed at a young audience but actually it's pretty good for the whole family. There are great effects scenes with some of the Greek mythology creatures doing battle with the demi gods. It felt like Clash of the Titans but set in modern day America, crossed with National Treasure. It has a great cast, although some have very short screen time. It whizzed by at a good pace, with plenty of action, cheesey humour and some decent action effects. I wouldn't call it a Potter or Narnia clone but if you like those sort of adventure films you can't go wrong with this!
