"A film that is the cinematic antipode of The Battle of Algiers. Photographed by the great Jack Cardiff, designed by Alfred Junge (both of whom received Oscars for their work here), this film was considered by Michael Powell to be the “most erotic” of all his films. That it takes place within a community of nuns gives his claim a deliciously profane edginess. It is the film that made me first realize how much cinematography can and should contribute to the emotional, dramatic thrust of a movie. It was also a great influence on my own film, the never released Mariette in Ecstasy, a bittersweet experience that made me realize how much more freedom I would always have as a cinematographer than as just another struggling director trapped in the Hollywood system."

"This play represented such a turning point for me as an actor. I'd just come out of drama school and I was playing opposite Geoffrey Rush. I had to leave my own baggage at the door and take on this character who would be understood by some and hated by others. Mamet has taken all the extraneous stuff away and left you with just this searing, polemic essential battle to the death. Geoffrey and I keep saying Oleanna is an inkblot test, because your reaction to it reveals to you your own sense of politics. It's so provocative — afterward, people were shouting at one another passionately. To see that happen in the theater lobby, which can be such a bourgeois, polite space, I just knew this is what I should be doing with my life."

After Ferdinand, a bull with a big heart, is mistaken for a dangerous beast, he is captured and torn from his home. Determined to return to his family, he rallies a misfit team on the ultimate adventure.



A lovely little film and I specifically have three things to say about it.

1) It has possibly the best dance off of any film I've seen. You've not lived until you've seen bulls and horses have a dance battle.

2) It has possibly the best chase scene of any film I've seen. You've not lived until you've seen bulls running through traffic followed by men on segways.

3) Why on earth is there one member of the Spanish police force in this film that has a decidedly un-Spanishy accent?!

Excellent, pacey LitRPG side-story
Eliza was introduced in the third full AO instalment, the water mage helping Jason and his crew in their quest to uncover the game's secret history. An unassuming young lady with unusual abilities but not particularly strong in battle, her introduction was not ground-breaking.
Here she is given a back-story, telling the reader about her private life, how and why she got into the game, and her rise to power.
A non-stop action and advancement story, she carries out a number of quests and explores her skills and new applications of them to make up for her less physical attributes.
Excellent character development and quite simply pure essence of LitRPG - there is no padding here, just pure story and action.
