Undeniably a horror movie, but one rich in subtext and metaphor, as well as containing several ew-that's-unbelievably-gross moments. (Students of the director may also wonder just how bad his divorce must have been.) Less Oliver Reed than you might hope for, but a remarkable performance from Samantha Eggar, and a great many memorable and disturbing sequences. Works on all sorts of levels, though some people may struggle to see past the more graphic aspects of the film. Still, this is horror done with brains and style.

The action scenes are not too bad, apart from the fight editing which was very choppy. Obviously spent a lot of money on the budget. The robotic soldiers took similar to another Netflix film @Code 8 (2019) and the battle scenes are decent. As the film moves on to the final act it's like a pick n mix of many other films including the Terminator amongst others.
Worth a watch for action fans but nothing particularly original or outstanding here. Complete with Marvel in jokes.

Initiation ( The Warriors book 1)
By Rebecca Royce
Keep your friends close...and your enemies closer.

Unprepared for the level of deception and betrayal she faces as she journeys Upwards to battle her enemies, it's not long before Rachel finds herself on a quest that will alter the lives of everyone she knows.
Including Rachel's...
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would! I found it a bit rushed in places but overall a really good concept! YA are hot and miss lately but I do like Rebecca Royces writing style! This is just another good book from her!

David McK (3600 KP) rated Star Wars: Tie Fighter in Books

That's all gone by the wayside (and recatogorised as Legends) ever since Disney bought out Lucasfilm.
I picked this one up when it was on sale for part of 2020s Comixology 'May the Fourth' (be with you) sale, having previously read the novel it leads into (that novel being Alphabet Squadron). As such, this story follows a group of Imperial pilots - rather than the more common point of view of Rebel pilots - flying various missions for the Empire, leading up to the battle of Endor and receiving word of their defeat.
Yes, the art is really rather good.
Yes, the story is really rather bland.
