Relaxing And Fun Game
I love this game because of how much there is to do in it, but it gives you a relaxed feel like Stardew Valley. If you like Stardew Valley and Minecraft you will like this game. The game allows you the freedom to explore and take your time with it. There are fun festival days and you can get to know your neighbors as well as romance specific characters with your male or female character. There are a few build missions that are timed, but the game doesn't really punish you if you miss the deadline. There are fun mini games too as well as dungeon crawl areas where you can battle monsters and earn rewards. The game has a ton of things to do and it can feel a little overwhelming, but if you take your time with it you find a rhythm that works. I found I really liked just gathering materials for my workshop and crafting. It's a fun and relaxing game that offers a lot of different things for everyone.

Nothing stood out - more of the same
Boy becomes reluctant hero. Hero does battle against villain. You fill in the rest.

Kind of a DC PG-13 version of Deadpool (or at least it wants to be).

I was really hoping the humor would be funnier and there would be something that would make it stand out for DC. Especially after really enjoying both Wonder Woman and Aquaman.

At 133 minutes, the movie needed quite a trimming as the beginning dragged and the movie lost its way a few times before coming together well at the end. I looked at my phone several times to see how much was left to go and that is never a good sign.

Zachary Levi stood out as the humorous protagonist (with a stupid-looking costume), but the rest of the cast was generic and boring including the blah villain.

If they make another film, hopefully they can concentrate more on the non origin story and make the humor and action scenes sharper and tighter.

We watched this at the weekend. My eldest son said it was ‘wrong’, the youngest thought it was loads of fun 🤷🏼‍♀️ I liked it, but it was nothing special. It whiled away a couple of hours. The villain could’ve been much better, I think (he’s a good actor!), and it’s a shame they didn’t make Shazam as he was in the comics. I think that’s what grated the most on my son - especially the end bit.

The Current War (2017)
The Current War (2017)
2017 | Biography, Drama, History
Expectations should be aligned properly before viewing this movie. Please don't expect it to be historically accurate. Most of it is not. With that being said, it is a movie. In that right, it is quite entertaining.

The Current War aims to tell the story of the battle between Edison and Westinghouse in the race to electrify American and the world.

Period pieces can be tricky, as just small details can throw the entire feel of the film into disarray that the viewer has to struggle to regain the composure of. The Current War does a great job of not tasking the crowd with this. All of the costumes are wonderful, the sets, the automobiles, architecture...all of it is absolutely spot on. Truth be told, that's nowhere near an easy task even in this digital age.

My hope is that viewing this movie might spark some renewed interest in the events surrounding the world depicted throughout the film. There are many layers to the actual store that are fascinating, and helped build America into what it became.

Dean Devlin's second crack at directing a movie (after the uproarious Geostorm) is probably marginally better but not as much fun. Car valet discovers one of his marks keeps a woman chained up in his office - what should he do? If he calls the cops, how will he explain his presence there? Interesting premise doesn't really go anywhere, though, and the battle of wits between hapless hero and weirdly omni-competent psycho is mainly expressed through people looking at their smartphones.

There's very little that's actually bad about this movie, and David Tennant is as capable as the villain as you'd expect (this role really demands a full 30% of his talent), but it rapidly turns into pretty formulaic stuff, often quite laboriously handled. Passes the time as background noise while you're doing something else fairly painlessly. It'd be great to live in a world where Tennant has the kind of film career he deserves, but I guess we'll just have to make the most of this one instead.
