"You’d have to ask Giorgio Gomelsky. It’s probably a bootleg by Giorgio Gomelsky. Do you know the story about him? He was the guy who first managed the Stones and put them on at the Station Hotel. He was right that he thought the only way to get the Stones publicity, as the house band, was to get the Beatles down to hear them, and they loved the Stones. And then he got Andrew Loog Oldham down to see them, and Brian Jones secretly did a commercial deal with Andrew, because they’d never written anything down with Giorgio, he just trusted them to stay with him. He then went and got The Yardbirds."

"Like I say, it all happened at the same time when I was 18, when I suddenly discovered all of that 60s culture. Really, The Beatles should be there as well but I wanted to avoid putting stuff on the list that was too obvious. Also with this list, I wanted some stuff that was formative, as opposed to just the stuff I listen to a lot and there's something about that album, Forever Changes. I don't know what it is about 1967, I hadn't really thought about that. 69's a good year as well. 64 was a really good year, 59 was a good year. 73 was a good year."

"As a very young kid, A Hard Days Night [editor’s note: by the Beatles, in case you’re an idiot] was a big deal. Probably, and when you say “my own money,” keep in mind I grew up very poor, so I didn’t have a lot of my own money; but I probably bought, like, Boston’s first album or the Beach Boys Endless Summer. And after that, when CDs came around, I would just buy The Best of Steely Dan, The Best of BTO, The Best of Deep Purple and I’d really just buy “the best” because a CD was like 13, 14 bucks and I was making six bucks an hour – you do the math."
