Erika (17789 KP) rated Point Break (1991) in Movies
Aug 12, 2018
I recently re-watched this film, and I had forgotten how much I really liked it. I love anything with Keanu Reeves, and this is one of my top favorites of his. The storytelling is good, the cinematography is breathtaking, the shots of surfing are beautiful.
Watching this definitely made me want to watch Hot Fuzz again.

Yoshi (40 KP) rated The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) in Books
Oct 29, 2018
Julie Kagawa is one of the only authors who actually seems to be able to write a decent urban fantasy series. While this isn't going to have the same level of depth as something like LotR, this series is still a fun read with interesting and memorable characters. Would definitely recommend this over Wicked Lovely or Beautiful Creatures.

Brandice (6 KP) rated Mother! (2017) in Movies

Filled with beautifully tragic symbolism
This is one of the most tragically beautiful films I've experienced. It outraged so many people who are just not willing to admit how accurate and raw the truth of this film is. Each time watching is like a thrill ride into the mythical world of creation, sacrifice, and rebirth.

Helped my kids
This is such a sweet book. I bought it for my daughter as we just lost my beautiful grandad and it has been tough going but this book teaches they haven't died completely, they have just gone to a different special place.

Russ Troutt (291 KP) rated Hostiles (2017) in Movies
Jul 18, 2019 (Updated Nov 24, 2020)
Scott Cooper has made another beautiful film with Hostiles. Due to its original release date being near Academy Awards time, I feel it got overshadowed by all of the talk of other Oscar nominated movies. Much like the Native Americans, it didn't get the recognition it deserved. Hostiles delivers a powerful story brought to life by a powerful cast.

Natari (73 KP) rated The Lion Tamer Who Lost in Books
Jul 19, 2019
There are few books in this world that stay with you long after you finish reading it. I still think about the Lion Tamer Who Lost six months later. It is beautiful storytelling, heartbreaking and sincere. I would recommend this to anyone who loves romance and how the real world is not all happily ever afters.

Cumberland (1142 KP) rated The Hazel Wood in Books
Jan 25, 2019
Loved it
I 100% loved this book. I couldn't wait to read it every since I saw how absolutely beautiful the cover was, and once I started I couldn't put it down. Lots of mystery surrounds the Hazelwood, and it was a great experience to go on the journey with Alice as she pieces everything together.

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated Motherless Brooklyn (2019) in Movies
Feb 28, 2020
Norton's Materpiece
Motherless Brooklyn is what cinema was made for. Written, directed and starring Norton, this is a beautiful ode to Film Noir and an attack on the elite with many parrelels to Trump.
Everything from the cinematography to the soundtrack is exceptional. How was this not even mentioned at the Oscars?
