A Great Summer Read
I started reading this book and couldn't stop. The chemistry between Danni-Rose and Benson is off the charts! Allison Mullinax has written a romance that sucked me in from the beginning and refused to let go. The writing flows so beautifully and the characters are great together. I loved the amount of support Benson showed for Danni and I loved the development of Danni. There was SO MUCH I wasn't expecting to happen in this!

Parody
A funny parody on top gun. Llyod Bridges gives a really funny performance as Admrail Benson. Sheen,Elews as take offs on Maverick and Ice Man work but can't expect much more than what it was.

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated Spring (2015) in Movies

Benson, the most underrated director.
After watching The Endless I was blown away by Benson's direction so I wanted to check out some other films. Spring was equally amazing. Its dreamy, sexy romantic and horrifying.
A man falls in love with a beautiful temptress who falls in love back but not is all as it seems and something primordial could be at play.
A beautiful film that deserves to be enormous.

Memorial is the story of Mike and Benson’s relationship and about their separate lives. They have lived together and loved one another for a few years, but when Mike gets word that his estranged father is dying back in Japan, it seems to come at the right time for their relationship. They clearly need the space to think. Except “frying pan” and “fire” comes to mind. Benson is left to live with Mike’s mother who has come to visit her son, and Mike is propelled in to caring for a dying man, a stranger to him, and running his bar.
It was so interesting to read about their lives and motivations. What starts out to be a purely selfish move by Mike (I felt that he was running away at first), actually becomes a selfless act. Of course, there is the advantage that he gets to know his father before his death, but he is there for him until the end.
Even though Mike’s childhood was much harder, it’s Benson who, to me, seemed to have been more affected by his parents break up. His father’s alcoholism, his mother leaving them and starting a new family, and his HIV+ diagnosis, all added up to a difficult mental space for him. But I didn’t feel that any of this became sentimental. It’s a joint decision when Benson and Mike realise that their relationship is coming to an end.
I really enjoyed this book. Its gentle pace where small acts and occurrences form the bigger picture really appealed to me. It’s an original and engrossing story from an author that I’ll be looking out for in the future.
Many thanks to Atlantic books for providing me with a copy of this book through NetGalley.

Be Our Guest
Beauty and the Beast- such a classic, with excellent songs like.."Belle", "Gaston", "Something There", "Be Our Guest" and "Beauty and the Beast".
The plot: An arrogant young prince (Robby Benson) and his castle's servants fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. The spirited, headstrong village girl Belle (Paige O'Hara) enters the Beast's castle after he imprisons her father Maurice (Rex Everhart). With the help of his enchanted servants, including the matronly Mrs. Potts (Angela Lansbury), Belle begins to draw the cold-hearted Beast out of his isolation.
Such a classic movie than their had to remake it. Grr. Like why disney, oh yea i know why $$$. What next a live action of "The Brave Little Toaster".

Tim McGuire (301 KP) rated The Endless (2018) in Movies

277. The Endless. So this has to be one of the cooler films I've seen recently. Its about two brothers Aaron and Justin, that escaped from a cult that believed a UFO was coming to take them away, and knowing how these things usually turn out, Justin decides to take his little bro away and escape. Now a decade later, life hasn't been easy, and after receiving an eerie message in the mail from a member they used to know, speaking of 'the end' the brothers decide to see whats been happening or changed. And what they find is pretty incredible. One of those flicks I'd rather not spoil to much because it was really really good. A pretty awesome sci fi story, with great writing and directing, by the stars themselves: Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead! Lovers of science fiction and good story telling watch this movie!
