Interests: Erotica, Novella, Short Stories, Best Friends Brother

Point of View: first person

Difficulty Reading: Short, simple, sweet with a lot of hot and steaminess.

Promise: A short yet compelling read that will leave you wanting just a bit more.

Insights: Writing was a bit amateurish but for being the style of book it is, it was a good read. Would recommend to others who like Eroticas.

Ah-Ha Moment: When the boy gets the girl he’s been in love with for the past ten years. And vice versa.

What will you gain: A simple yet refreshing read.

Aesthetics: It was cool to see a billionaire and his brother living together with Cat. But other than that, there was really anything that stood out that’s worth mentioning.

Ok, so I have some thoughts about this book. From the title, I had different expectations from what actually happened in the novel, and more could possibly have been made of the ending, I feel. But perhaps I’ve just exposed my rather blood thirsty side (which I’ll be honest, I hadn’t recognised until I started to want more extreme things to happen in this!)
Kash is originally from Bangladesh, and he puts this down to his love for meat in all its forms. He co-owns a restaurant in New York where they serve up exotic meat (think: Peacock or Greenland Shark). Due to the financial crash in 2010, Kash borrows a significant amount of money from a Russian loan shark and then realises that he’s not going to be able to pay it back in the way that the Russian would like (in large instalments). So he comes up with a plan with a new client, who happens to be a billionaire with a lot of billionaire friends, to make a lot of money quickly.

There’s a lot of build up in this novel, and we get to know a lot about Kash, his restaurant, his fellow investor and his girlfriend. It takes a while to actually get going, and then I felt that the dinner scene at the end was too rushed and over far too soon - and then what happens next?! Now, this surprises me, because I’m usually a fan of the build up. But I suppose I knew what was coming and I wanted more detail, maybe more than one incident, some follow up afterwards. Even the cover of the book offered more.

There are a fair few positive 4-5 star reviews on Goodreads, so I imagine that this is very much a marmite book - you love it or dislike it 🤷🏼‍♀️

An easy read but a bit of an emotional rollercoaster.
Even though this story contains the overused character Mr. Billionaire Alpha Male, he manages to have a more unique personality. This coupled with a strong, charismatic female lead makes for a great multidimensional relationship. Their unique dynamic made for an interesting story and ,inevitably, an emotional rollercoaster. Although I was irritated and frustrated at some of the idiotic decisions the characters made, they were all very realistic stupid decisions that anyone would and does make. I don't think the main character, Tate, was intended to be a role model but I think she might just be my spirit animal. Let your freak flag fly you fictional character you.

I am normally an admirer of David Cronenberg’s work. His films have always at least been interesting even when they were downright strange..up until now . He really dropped the ball here , there’s no other way to say it but this is one pretentious pile of shit. The plot makes no sense whatsoever and solely consists of a billionaire on his way to get a haircut having random encounters with strangers and spouting a load of philosophical existential musings at the expense of a coherent narrative and dialogue. Robert Pattinson is terrible here as well , blank ,emotionless and unlikeable. Perhaps he didn’t know what was going on either. For me the films worst crime is it’s a David Cronenberg film . It’s beyond disappointing seeing the master of weird and wonderful put his name to something as soul destroyingly boring as this cinematic abortion.‬
