"I’m fascinated by the premise of Lessing’s horror story where the threat to survival is not external but literally inside the body and home of the protagonist. The moral quandary of raising a dangerous child is not one many of us will ever confront, but the painful struggle of this family is impossible to look away from."

Gene Simmons recommended Psycho (1998) in Movies (curated)

Psycho (1998)

"Psycho is a wonderful, elevated horror film, and it doesn’t necessarily have monsters or ghosts,” Simmons says. “You ever see Psycho? I’m embarrassed to say that there are people out there who don’t have a clue what I’m talking about. Shame on them. It’s interesting to note Psycho had murders and all this kind of wacky stuff but you never saw a knife go into a body. You never saw a body actually bleed. I think that made it even more horrific. Sometimes the scariest things are what human beings are capable of.”

Horror-lite yarn that might have benefitted from a 12A
Directed by “Troll Hunter” director André Øvredal, I really enjoyed this one. I’m not a massive fan of ‘slasher’ style horror films. I have no burning desire to be constantly reminded of what the inside of my body looks like. So this turned out to be much-more to my liking than the normal horror flick. It had enough spookiness to make me turn on the lights when I got back home, but not enough to pervade my dreams.

This movie was what I expected... weird. The song and cinematography were good. The story, however was a strange crazed scientist/baron using human body fluids to stay alive until he can continue his bloodline(purely?)through his daughter. Anyway, it had plenty of creep factor and decent effects(nothing too high end but good). Ok horror flick for a boring rainy day. Worth a watch.
