I truly enjoyed this book. I found it terribly difficult to put down. The description is amazing and I felt like I was in Bombay. It has a fantastic plot. It has everything for everyone, drama, romance, action. Recommend it highly!

Rolling Stone's 429th greatest album of all time
Brian Eno's (real name Brian E-number) first foray into ambient music. Totally not my cup of tea. It basically sounds like incidental film music that was never picked up by a film studio so were packaged up as an album. A bit like the reduced section of the supermarket, or Bombay mix.

This is the first in a series of mysteries featuring Inpector Ghote of the Bombay CID recently rereleased as a Penguin Modern Classic. I don't know how many titles there are in the series, but as in the introduction we are told the author didn't set foot in India until the first nine were written I'd hazard a guess there are at least ten!

Now, I do love a good mystery, or what my mother calls 'a nice murder' and although I was entertained enough by this I don't think it will finding a permanent home on my bookshevles. It's not that there is anything particularly wrong with it, perhaps it just wasn't my cup of tea? I found most of the characters in the book to be completely frustrating and unhelpful so I felt frustrated too! Lala Varde I could have quite cheerfully strangled myself with his obstructiveness and childish rhyming language!

One thing I do usually enjoy in mystery novels is trying to work out the solution and then feeling particularly pleased with myself if I get anywhere near the truth. I think that was difficult to do here, so maybe another reason why I wasn't taken with it?

Gold Spectacles is a baroque pop duo from London, England. Not too long ago, they released an indie-alternative tune, entitled, “I Can See The Future”.

‘I Can See The Future’ tells an interesting tale of a young woman who shares a terminal relationship with her significant other.

Apparently, she sees the future, therefore, she knows that their relationship is over because her partner doesn’t love her like he used to love her.

‘I Can See The Future’ contains a bittersweet storyline, pleasing vocals, and lush instrumentation flavored with Spanish guitars, stabbing bass line, and synthesizers.

“We were drawing on the idea of being too caught up in the future to appreciate the present. The singer sees glimpses of imperfections in their relationship forming and jumps to the conclusion that everything is falling apart. The track developed from a chord pattern played on a beaten up 1952 Hammond organ which we rescued and restored from a local school. A new addition to our home studio.” – Gold Spectacles

Gold Spectacles is the collaborative output of two British songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalists. Their musical influences include Paul Simon, Local Natives, Bombay Bicycle Club, Phoenix, and Lykke Li.

Since October 2018, they have released a track a month which coincides with the lunar calendar. Also, these tracks will one day come together to form their upcoming debut album.
