Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Seducing the Demon Huntress (Netherworld, #1) in Books
Jan 12, 2021
I received this copy off NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
I really enjoyed this book!
Maybe it was the sexiness of Arawn and his obvious desire for Kerilyn. Though we see everything from Kerilyn’s side it was fairly obvious he wanted her and he had a sneaky way of going about it :P
There was a fair amount of action in it too and I found myself willing them on in the end.
It may have been short but it certainly kept me entertained.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated Cable Left, Cable Right: 94 Knitted Cables in Books
Jan 18, 2018
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
As someone who has never knitted a cable before, this was a great book to start with. The first thing I noticed about this novel is how beautiful the images are. They are so clear and crisp that it is easy to see the stitching, a huge plus for any knitting book.
The book begins with explained what a knitted cable actually is and some terminology and charting symbols you should familiarize yourself with. I appreciated that the charting symbols not only came with the images but short little descriptions of how to do them. The book also explains other important symbols to know as well as different types of needles used. The best about this book? The step by step descriptions and images that went with each. As a visual learner, it was a great asset to me especially since I am not as familiar with knitting as I am crochet.
I couldnt have asked for a better book to try and learn cable stitches from. I have always loved cable stitches, and now I can finally knit my own!

Nicole Hadley (380 KP) rated North: How to Live Scandinavian in Books
Jun 14, 2018
Nørth: How to Live Scandinavian by Brontë Aurell is a fun introduction to Scandinavia. This book is filled with recipes, instructions and playful sideways satirical jabs at each of the three Scandinavian countries. From the OCD "it has to be white, all white," to the absolute gaucheness of taking a knife to a beautiful Danish cheese, use a slicer is proper and easier, to the proper way to smörgåsbord and how to drink aquavit, this book covers many aspects of living, dressing and eating in Scandinavian culture. The quirky idioms will make you laugh and the Janteloven (Law of Jante) will give you insight into the Scandinavian psyche.
I was excited to read this book. I lived for a year in Denmark and the year impacted the way I live my life. I knew Denmark and Danes impacted my life greatly but this book helped me realized just how much.
I highly recommend this book to people who want to learn about Scandinavian culture, or are Scandinavian.
I received this book from NetGalley via Quarto Publishing Group - Aurum Press and Aurum Press Ltd in exchange for an honest review.

Nicole Hadley (380 KP) rated Big Hero 6, Vol. 1 in Books
Jun 18, 2018
<a href="https://awindowintobooks.wordpress.com">Full Review</a>
I received Disney's Big Hero 6, vol. 1 from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review of the book. I am a person who loved all things Disney. When I entered to review this book I was not expecting it to be a comic book. Comic books are not something I enjoy typically. This book is about a boy named Hiro who is a genius and dreams of being an inventor like his older brother. The book takes an unexpected turn when Hiro's old brother vanishes while saving his life. Hiro was devastated. Hiro had every right to sulk in his grief and be lonely and blame himself for his brothers disappearance, but instead he develops a friendship with his brother's last invention; a health-care companion robot named Baymax. The robot was exactly what Hiro needed to get back up on his feet. Baymax and Hiro go on many adventures which helps Hiro to not be as lonely. The book follows the plot of the movie closely but the author has his own twist to it.

Rise and Shine: Better Breakfasts for Busy Mornings --with 75 recipes everyone will love by Katie Sullivan Morford is a great book on how to make breakfast a little easier in the morning. It is the cookbook everyone needs. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, this is not new knowledge. However, with busy lives and rushing around in the morning sometimes breakfast gets overlooked. This collection of 75 recipes are easy to make and healthy, but delicious at the time time.
Besides making delicious food that is throughout this book it is about substituting our go to foods and making them better and less processed. I wish there were more pictures of the finished recipes. This book is great for providing a lot of variations on old classics as well as creating new and interesting meals that everyone can enjoy. I especially loved the Boost It, Adapt It and Make Ahead tips at the bottom of the recipes. A great book that focuses solely on breakfast.
I received this book Roost Book via Netgalley in exchange from an honest review.

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Avarice (Hell on Earth, #1) in Books

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have been debating on what my rating for this book would be and I would give it a 3 1/2 star review so I rounded up to 4. This is the very first of A.C. Melody's books that I have ever read and I have to say, I will be coming back for more. A.C. Melody did what not many people can do, they didn't fall into the curse of the novella. This book is 114 pages on my nook. Generally, when I read a book that is less than 200 pages I do not feel connected to the characters, this was a rare occurrence where I found the characters enduring.
I tend to love myself a good dark & gritty romance and this was a lot of fun to read. The humor in here had me smiling and the characters were well done. My only critic was the ending but then again, the ending is what has me wanting to read the next book.
Ultimately, I enjoyed the book and I cannot wait for the next one in the series.

BEFORE YOU READ THIS BOOK
I WANT YOU TO KNOW THREE THINGS:
1. The police are looking to charge me with murder.
2. No one knows who I am. Or how I did it.
3. If you think you've found me. I'm coming for you next.
After you've read this book, you'll know: the truth is far more twisted...
When Maria Cooper accidentally uncovers one of her husband Pauls secrets she enlists her lover Daryl in a plot to get even.
This book is full of suspense and intrigue with lots of twists and turns.
Just when you think you've got it worked out there's another revelation that blows your theory away.
The characterization is excellent, the storytelling first class and the final reveal is kept for the very last page.
Can't wait to see what Steve Cavanagh comes up with next; definitely a book I would recommend reading.
Thanks a lot to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2200 KP) rated Masking for Trouble (Costume Shop Mystery, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
In a town that loves costume parties, Halloween is a huge deal, which means things are very busy for Margo Tamblyn in her family’s costume shop, Disguise DeLimit. However, this year things are looking grim thanks to Paul Haverford, who has grand designs for the city, plans that include closing down small shops like Disguise DeLimit. However, when Margo finds Paul’s body at the opening party, she finds herself as the prime suspect. Can she find the killer and clear her name?
I loved the first book in this series because the characters are so wonderful. It was great to see them again and watch their relationships grow and change. The plot was fun and unique, and I enjoyed that as well. Plus the book made great use of the Halloween time frame.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2200 KP) rated Tangled Up in Brew (Brewing Trouble, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Maxine “Max” O’Hara and Jake Lambert are entering a local brews and burgers festival. However, the festival takes a turn for the worse when notoriously nasty food critic Reginald Mobley signs on as a replacement judge. However, no one expects him to be murdered. Worse yet, he collapses right after eating Jake’s entry in the burger competition. Can Max figure out what is happening.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I loved this one even more. The characters we met in the first book are all back, and they are still fantastic. The mystery is compelling with lots of secrets to be revealed before we reach a suspenseful and logical climax. I’m already looking forward to the next in the series.

Nicole Hadley (380 KP) rated Human Body: Discover the inner workings of the human body! in Books
Jun 14, 2018
Inside Out Human Body: Explore the World's Most Amazing Machine! by Luann Columbo is a fantastic book full of facts and diagrams which enables us to begin to understand the human body in all its glory. Each section has a layered model which illustrates some of the facts presented. The book is extremely informative.
This book gives the reader information about our muscular system, skeletal system, joints, digestive system, urinary system, respiratory system, and nervous system. Pronunciation tips for more advanced words like pulmonary are provided and there are some simple experiments kids can do to demonstrate what they’re learning, such as looking at the underside of their tongue in a mirror to see their blood vessels.
I recommend this book to any kid or kids and heart who loves learning about the human body.
